      lost my hero

I lost my dad this friday. I know it's not really a topic for here but I would of never had the love for cars without him. When I turned 16 he gave me his baby a 70 nova that he had since it was new. He taught me alot about cars, life, and just being a all around amazing father. My mother is really missing him. They were married 64 years. I thank God for giving me 54 years with him

I'm really sorry for your loss.....

When I was 19 I lost my father.. I never forgave him for leaving me so young and without the guidance I thought I would need to become a man. 1 year later I met a friend at work who literally lived 3 blocks away from me for 16 years and I never knew it.

That "friend" and I carpooled to work, dated and I finally married her 6 years later. My wife's dad would always call me when my wife and I dated and now even more now that I married his daughter.

I feel my dad lived on through my wife's dad in some strange way. Her dad is always there when I need him and I'd be honored to be like him.

I feel my dad knew I needed someone to remind me of him and gave me my wife's dad in his place.

I think your father will always be there even if your not looking he'll be looking.

Our parents, family and friends who pass away will always be with us. Watching over. At least I would like to think so.

No matter our age its never easy.....

Be strong for the ones who need to lean on you for support.....

I'm 65 and I lost my dad in '91. My dad and I were always at each others throat from teenage years until about 2 years before he passed. When I went to his funeral, I cried like a baby. I still miss him today. I do feel sorry for your loss.

Thanks everyone again for the responses. I know it will get easier with time. But for now it really sucks. My mom wants me to help her clean out the house which I'm sure will bring up a lot of memories

Soo sorry for your loss. I lost my mom last year and my mom and dad were married over 50 years. My dad was and still is a bit lost. We did the same thing and cleaned out the house. It was more of a positive experience than a sad one believe it or not. The bonding time spent was needed for both of us and my brother. As much work as it was, we were all able to laugh and remember the good times during the process. Again sorry for your loss and stay strong for your mom

One year and 6 days ago I lost my Dad.
He also provided me with my first hot rod, a 70 Chevelle. He fixed it when I could not, and he helped me learn to fix it myself.
During his final year, I returned the favor with his 1969 Jaguar E-type.
I still miss him terribly. But I know he isn't hurting any longer.
I can relate to what you are feeling. So sorry for your loss.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I have an extremely tight relationship with my dad as well. He taught me everything about this crazy passion with cars, I owe him everything and will be very distraught when he passes. RIP
