New To Site-Looking for recommedations

Hello all. Ive had my 66 chevelle convertible since I was 14 (currently 43) and love the look of protouring. Looking for recommendations on rims. I love the forgeline rims but for $1k+ each its not reasonable for me. Is there another brand to look at? Looking for 18" (I think) front and back, black rims with chrome lip. sorry if this topic is beat to death, links will be great, pics and detail even better (size/fitment/etc.

Well start at budget ....if you can't or don't want to buy forgelines ....tell us what is reasonable...? Also brakes ..what do you currently have for brakes and I guess hp level as well . There's no point in running a 20' rim with 15" rotors if you're barely passing 300 rwhp. Finally what's the use of the car ...if it's a daily driver you can easily use a 275 ...if you want to auto cross it you might want something around 315's

Car has around 500hp at crank, front disk conversion, rear drums. I'm not going to race it or anything but would like to get look..daily driver, maybe bi-monthly.. 2" drop slindles in front also. I would say 500 a rim is in range..

I like their stuff,too. My 69 Elco had 17x9 and 17x13 PSE Kidney Bean pindrives on it. When funds allow it, I'm going to buy another set of them,in 17x9 and 17x11, for my 70 Elco.

There are also steel wheels that look like stock car rims in 17/18 from several sources till something affordable comes along and allows mixing and matching tires for looks. Also couple company that have open hoops and free centers. Properly welded are as strong as off shelf.

Go with an 18" wheel. The selection of tires and brakes is good.
American Racing has some good choices.
Make sure you pick a wheel that will work with whatever brakes you pick.

OK found them! For a 18/19 combo, 4 wheels for $2500 and they are exactly what I wanted and custom made to my order. Check them out. Like the 309/311/313 but I'm open for everyones thoughts.

I hate chrome blingy wheels but that's just me. If I were choosing from those, my first choice would be the 303, followed by the 313, both in a Titanium or Smoke powdercoating

+1 ......dated look to me. I had the polished aluminum look for 15 years now and it's very played out to me.

Very large flash "chrome" rims these days is a more ethnic style...

Nice Chevelle and welcome aboard! As has been said make sure what you buy will clear the brakes and suspension you want. As you delve into Pro Touring things often snowball and change along the way, for example you may start with intending to get a basic smaller 4 piston brake kit and then end up buying a huge 6 piston kit and find the wheels you already bought won't work anymore. Or like many others, really get bit by the bug (it happens to all of us, lol!) and find yourself wanting to accommodate minitubs and 315s or 335s out back necessitating different wheels. Quite often the wheels are the last purchase for a build for that reason. Sounds like you're starting off with what suspension you have already so this is forward thinking food for thought.

Also be careful with drop spindles, some main stream drop spindles can cause steering arm fitment issues with some wheels, and most drop spindles don't help correct the geometry requirements for better handling, they simply lower the car. You can save your $ and do that for free in the driveway by simply cutting the springs. If you aim to lower the car and increase handling capability a decent aftermarket suspension with coilovers, something like a Road Assault package would give you corrected geometry, better handling and the ability to lower and adjust ride height and shock valving. Again something to consider as you begin your new venture on the Pro Touring side.
