I had heard that FiTech was going to be offering a port injection system using the Edelbrock manifold.

How much flexibility do you want?

i don't know much about EFI, just the fact that it's easier than adjusting a carb every other day. can u explain flexibility, thanks.

I wouldn't say that it is easier, but it certainly gives you the ability to tune an engine a lot better than a carb. The hardware part is fairly simple and you probably have only a handful of choices. As for the actual computer and software, I have really been impressed with the Holley EFI systems, both the HP and the Dominator. You can use the Edelbrock intake with the Holley ECU.

Also, don't forget that for easier tuning, you want to choose a camshaft that will give you the most vacuum at idle. At a minimum 14-15 in/mg...but the more the better.

What he is asking about flexibility is how much control do you want to have over the EFI system or are you willing to allow the EFI to self-learn. Higher end systems (read more expensive) allow you to control every aspect of the fuel curve where more user friendly systems will self-learn and limit the user controlled settings. Since you are new to EFI you don't want a high end system you need one that will self-learn AKA, FiTech.
