How do I tighten this plug?

I officially have disdain for my headers. Can anyone offer some insight on how to tighten this plug? See it, buried in a nest of pipes there?

I can get a plug socket on it but not the extension. The header pipe is in the way. I can get a wrench on the hex at the end of the socket but there's not enough room to turn it. Tried above and below.

Is there a tool I don't know about? Not excited about moving my headers for a plug change.

Can you get a wrench on the hex head of the socket from the bottom?

Love my crow's foot wrench sets for just these kind of madenning situations. They can still be a pain in the but, but they will get it done usually.

An offset wrench often works. I had to use one on my #7 plug with my old heads. I had this old offset wrench that was perfect. Now i have angle heads so i had to cut another wrench down to fit. Homemade stubby lol

I have angle plug heads as well, I have to use a box end wrench on a few of them. There have been times when I just wanted to take a big hammer to the headers to make it work, (just couldn't bring myself to do it though lol)

I also have an offset box end wrench that works well for the plugs that I can't get to with a socket. In fact the offset box end works so well that I don't bother with the socket anymore.

Get a cut off wrench in there. I would be worried about the plug wire though. Hows that fit?

I ended up getting a slip over socket for use with a wrench. It's not obvious from the picture but plug boots are not an issue.

Youre right, it sure doesn't look like a spark plug wire would even fit on there. I suspect a burnt wire in your future. Poor designed headers.....

I have a tight fit plug like that as well. I use a short socket that is open on both ends and uses a ratchet that fits over it and around the outside of the socket instead of fitting on top of the socket. Works very well in tight areas like that. You can fit the socket over the plug first then place the ratchet over the socket. Mine is made by Craftsman, but other manufacturers probably make them too.

I have a few tools I bought and others I made (for tight header clearance)

      SLP's tool:

      Another type:

Have also modified a couple of bent 5/8" Box Wrenches cut off at about three inches...

Sometimes I just buy cheap wrenches and cut, bend and weld them until they work.

That looks like a real challenge. I don't envy you.

Appreciate everyone's help on this - the plug's been tight for several months now and the picture really does make it look worse than it is. The open end socket worked for me.

45 degree boots on most of the plugs actually gives me a nice air gap all around.
