      5th gen console progress

I'm in the process of installing this console in my 67 Firebird. One of the biggest obstacles was what to do with the e-brake hole. I've seen some of the options others have done, pouches, nothing, actually installing the e-brake.
I really didn't need the extra storage of the pouch, didn't want to just leave it open and installing the handle brake involves too much work so this is what I came up with.
I used a portion of another side panel so the texture and color would be spot on. After riveting a simple aluminum bracket with a rectangular hole to the structure inside, the panel simply snaps in.

One other project was to figure out something for the shifter boot going around my flat Hurst shifter handle. Crunching the leather around the handle didn't look good so I made this out of a piece of aluminum. The part has a groove machined into it underneath and the leather is held in place by an O-ring. Now I just have to polish it to a chrome like finish and cross another thing off the list.
This console is going to work really nice. Having an armrest and cup holders is a good thing.Name: IMG_0453.jpg
