Fiberglass lower valance + metal spoiler?
I have a 67 camaro with a fiberglass lower valance from musclerodz (http://www.musclerodzstore.com/67-68camarocustomlowervalanceinstocknow.aspx) which is designed to eliminate the front bumper and mimic the 69 camaro lower valance.
I'm interested in installing a pro-touring front spoiler from Spoiler's By Randy (http://www.spoilersbyrandy.com/Pages) either stamped steel or the aluminum one.
Either way I'm concerned that the spoiler may hit something and it's going to crack or destroy the fiberglass lower valance and likely damage the spoiler itself.
I had one of the reproduction plastic spoilers back in the day when I had just the stock sheet metal lower valance and I remember hitting a parking block or pulling into a driveway or something and the plastic spoiler got ripped apart and it also damaged the lower valance.
My concern is paying $300 for a fancy spoiler and damaging my $400 painted fiberglass lower valance.
Given that when I damaged the plastic spoiler it was years ago and I was young and dumb and now I'm older and more careful. My question is, should I be concerned that I'm going to damage everything? Should I just purchase and try to be extra careful? Am I over thinking this? I'm only purchasing it because I like the look of the pro-touring spoiler and I doubt any function will be really achieved from installing it. Any comments are welcome. Thanks!
