project Street Fighter 78 Trans AM

As I said in my intro, life has thrown me a curve. An opportunity for a second chance to rethink my goals and priorities.

So I sold off several other toys and stuff I collected and focusing on something I really want to do.

The plan is to use this 78 Firebird formula and clone it into a Trans Am, And USE it! No trailer queen or show and shine pony here. I am not the best writer but I have over 20 years of experience building all facets of custom cars and fabrication so I will be putting my skills to work in this build.

The plan is similar to many of the 2nd gen Fbody cars you see, 4 link rear, tubular a-arms, big brakes and rubber and an LS6 with some type of forced induction.

      Enjoy the build!

I was quite surprised to open the hood and see this brand new engine and complete new flowmaster exhaust. he didn't even mention it in the ad! Got the whole car for the value of the engine. I pulled the broken windshield out because if there was any rust. that is where I'd find it. There's none! Also pulled the hood to put the shaker hood on. I was able to find all the t/a parts on a car being parted locally. Going to drive it on this powerplant until the body and suspension are sorted

having the windshield out was a good opportunity to paint the dash, No need for masking as the new dash pad is going on soon.

A rust free shell is worth 10 grand imho, because that's what it costs to fix a rusty pos, that's a great start good luck with your build

Parts are being delivered nearly every day at the moment. Found the 12" rear brakes in the classifieds and the z06 calipers on Ebay, will be going down to kore3 this week for the front hubs and brackets.

It's been nearly a year. Half of that was used up spending time with family, getting caught up and lots of physical therapy. Rebroke one rib in May but good as new now, full speed ahead!

I purchased another rust free shell for the front clip and had it media blasted. I did find some rust in the passenger floor due to a typical heater core failure. That was repaired with donor sheetmetal. Firewall got a shave and the Kore3 hubs have been fitted to 79-81 big bearing spindles.Name: 20171015_160130.jpg
