Pypes DSE tail pipes don't fit!!

Has anyone else bought this kit for the sec gen camaro? There's no way this kit bolts in and clears the quadra link. Thoughts?

What issues are you having? I have a Quadra link and the DSE tank. I couldn't tell from your pics if you are running the DSE tank or another version. Here are a a few pics of my Quadralink and tank install. I was hoping this kit would go right in since in their one photo it appears to be this same sort of setup.

My tank is Ricks Stainless and is notched. I feel the hangars are welded on the wrong spot and the tube was not designed to route around the pan hard bar bracket and clear (More of on top of it). Also, LOWERED....The pipe does not fit in that area as you can see with the car lowered. I'm going to try and get a picture for you. I know its hard to explain

Photos would be greatly appreciated. I sorry you had to be the Guinea pig but I certainly would like to learn from your setup before pushing the order button on something that won't fit. Jegs has it for $719 so I suppose if it doesn't fit I could get an RMA and not be out any money.

The Hooker setup looks good with the exception of having to cut the DSE Crossbar. I spoke with several people at DSE and they have 3" without having to cut anything but they build their own piece by piece using a bunch of u bends that they cut as needed.

I'm curious to see if you can take photos of the same areas that I did on the corners of the tank to see if there is similar clearance with both tanks.

Notice the tail pipe opening is not round. Its cut at an angle. This doesn't leave much room to clock the pipe at all, that is unless you want the exhaust to blow into the body rather than the ground. In the end, I bet its simply a hangar placement problem. The pipe is butted right up to the tank.

Hi Rob, It's real hard to gauge the issues you are having with the system by the pictures you posted. You do not show the s-pipes that go over the axle, mufflers and x-pipe installation. Hanger attachment is the last step of the installation after final rotation adjustments are made. Doug took some great pictures of his set up and you can see there is a lot of room fro the exhaust to rout through. If you still continue to have problems I suggest you look at the instructions again, install the complete system and send me pictures similar to Doug's. I can express enough this is a pretty easy system to install and fit really nice with both the Rick's and stock tank.

I don't need to go that far to see there is an obvious issue. Look at the hanger. The isoloator is all the way over and still not underneath the frame rail. I have twisted it, moved it for and aft. This does not put it in a spot to bolt the hangar to. Do you want to me to go ahead and cut the legs on the X-pipe?

I posted this in another thread on the same subject but this one seems more relevant.

I got got the kit in Saturday and so far it has fit for the most part. It's missing one tailpipe and I'll need to shorten the x-pipe assembly to go around my crossmember. They should definitely move that x-pipe back a good foot to clear most crossmembers. All in all a thumbs up if the other tailpipe fits well.

I'll post up pics. It's not completely bolted in but you will get the idea..

It would have met up perfectly with the headers had the x pipe been back 6 more inches. Going to have to shorten those long runs so the x-pipe is behind the cross member and then add that back in at the collectors. A little frustrating but nothing that isn't accomplished easily enough.

Just need that passenger side tailpipe...

Here you go. I don't have it all bolted in yet but it definitely fits.

Looks close, I guess it support my complaint my tube may be wrong. How high does your car sit and does it hit when you go over bumps?

I'm about to start fitting my new PYPES 3" setup on my BB '69. From what ive read and heard, PYPES recommends starting from the rear tailpipes and working your way forward. Rather than use the supplied clamps, I ordered a dozen lap-band clamps. They should allow easy twisting of the various pipe sections before locking it all up. The lap band is 3" wide so you get about an inch and a half on each side of the joint, and you can always loosen and remove sections when necessary.

I know of two guys who are running 3" PYPES on a 383 and a 400 SBC. Both said it takes a little tweaking but nothing hits. I'm praying for that.

Well it's been about a full year.... I have not seen a refund from Pypes. Seemed really ok with me sending the tail pipes back and heard nothing since....I suggest you all look elsewhere

How do you expect to drive the car with this pipe resting on the pan hard bar?
