      64 Chevelle SS Malibu Redo

I purchased this car 12 years ago . Living in Utah and being a car guy when you see a old car that you like and it is running the original California black plate with a for sale sign , well you need to do what you need to . At that time I was putting the finishing touches on my 1971 ElCamino . My son at that time was 5 years old , I would notice him grabbing tools from the tool box and act like he was working on the Chevelle . At that point the wife and I decide that we would build the car drive it for a few years then give it to him as his first car . So in 2006 we started to restore with a frame off build on the car and build it my way . As a general contractor 2008 came about , forcing use to put the car on the back burner . This is roughly where we left off on the car .

Fast forward to 2013 my son now is 15 and found a C10 that we worked on for 2 years going trough the truck from top to bottom front to back .

With a LS swap built 700R4 12 bolt posi with 373 rear gear .

Now the kid has the bug and wants to build a more powerful and better handling car . So i just set back and waited it out as he poured though the local adds for sale trying to find that next project . After looking at a few and buying a car . I offered up the 64 Chevelle and he jump on it . So out came the blown small block and we pushed it out of the garage for the first time in
8 years . There it was with 8 years of dust on it .

Now after a wash job here it is .

Now we can start the tear down .

I'm sure it wasn't that nice when you started the first build 12 years ago but must be nice now not dealing with all the rust, grease and dirt!
What are you doing for an engine?

The more I look at your car it's almost the same color as my 65Name: DSC_0246 (800x531).jpg

The car for the most part was rust free . Only rust was at the driver side wind shield , so had to replace the corner and the dash . Also replaced the quarters .

As for motor my son wants a LS3 525hp it's his cash .

The color on are car is Suzy Q Blue .

Here is a update. We where able to get the frame boxed and the Chicane coilover conversion kit installed.
Over the weekend we where able to mock up the engine placement with the help of a Speedtech kit . It included the mounts stands as well as there oil pan and Stainless Works headers .

Here you can see the Chicane coilover kit.

A few pics of the Speedtech ATS oil pan. What a nice piece !

A couple of the firewall clearance.

      Looking underneath.

Now time to get the transmission cross member and the bracing mocked up then out comes again for welding.

LOL, I try to keep him on track so it does not spin out of control. I am sure you will find the time that its right for you to build your 65. My son being 18 helps him as he still lives at home goes to work every day and has no girl friend. And eats on are dime.

LOL theirs just so many different things you can do with the cars anymore its hard to make a decision and stick with it until you actually pull the trigger and one thing can lead to another in a hurry. My brother in law always asks me whats the flavor of the week(what ideas this week lol). Keep up the great work and have a good time, that's some awesome father son time.
