      Wheels on the car

Jeff got the wheels on the car, and put the body on the frame to see how they look. Also just some general pics of the current state of the car. It's come a long way but still a long road ahead. I like it!

      Continuing on the Dash

Work continued on the dash. Got the main panel welded in and is working on a switch panel on the drivers side to hold the headlight / wiper switch.

Played around with one idea for the Panel but we didn't like how it was turning out.

Decided to recess the switch panel...looks good now

Part 2 of the dash work:

      The Heart has arrived...

A big box came in the other day, it happened to be a supercharged LT4 crate engine!

The guys at Pace Performance took care of me and I paid to have the engine dyno'd and broke in by them. One less thing to worry about when the car gets up and running...

Jeff got the new engine mounts from AME for the LT4/1 engines which should put the engine in the same spot as an LS in the chassis putting the trans in the same position

There is problems with fitment, first, the oil pan will not fit with the cross member on the AME chassis, we have a Holley swap pan on order that should fix that issue.
Also, the high pressure fuel pump on the back of the engine will contact the firewall, so jeff will have to recess that portion of the firewall to make room. Jeff goes through that on his video.

Dyno sheet from Pace, dyno'd 3 HP short of the 650 but 23 FT LBS over 650 on the torque.
Attached some videos of the engine on the dyno below...

      Idle

      Full pull on the dyno

Also ordered the newly release Drive Junky front accessories for the LT4, Zach @ Drive Junky was great to deal with, looking forward to see that on the engine.

      Small Update

Small update, Jeff put up a new video of him test fitting the wheels on the car and put it through the suspension travel range. They look real good bottomed out if you ask me haha.

As for the car we are waiting on the Swap oil pan to show up which should be Monday I'm hoping. Then he can get the engine set in to get clearances etc. around the engine / high pressure fuel pump, and make sure the transmission sits where he wants. Spoke with BRP Muscle Rods about some mid length headers they have coming out with for the LT4 on the Chevelle, not sure if I'll go the full long tubes from ultimate headers or just the mid lengths from BRP. The mid length as half the price almost of the long tubes so that's a consideration, and I can't see the long tubes making huge amount of power over them. They are both 1 7/8 primary headers.

      Falling Behind

Been a while now that I haven't updated the thread. Not a whole lot has been going on with the car as Jeff has some other projects on the go and his new Shop being built.

Don't have much in the way of photos but got a few videos Jeff has done on the car. Should have more updates coming in the next month as he tries to push to get it ready for paint.

Jeff repairing the windshield channel that was rusted out.

Jeff wasn't happy with the Dash, so he did it again (third time is a charm?) He used some thicker steel to avoid the warping issues he was having before

We ordered the new Holley swap pan for the LT4, Jeff swapped in the new one so he can check cross member clearance. Ended up not having to order new headers as the stock one will now clear everything well thanks to the new Art Morrison Engine mounts.

Jeff working on getting the rear quarters matched up to the body and the roof

Calm at idle and screams when you get on it, pretty amazing for a production engine!

      making progress

Work is ramping up a bit on the Chevelle as Jeff is pushing to get the body to paint by the end of the year so we can stay on schedule for SEMA 2018.

The front fenders and rear trunk lid were scrap. It looked perfect with the previous primer job but once blasted. It looks as if they did the body work, let it sit outside and get some surface rust then put primer on it…sigh…so new front fenders (inner and outer), trunk lid were ordered.

Thankfully the hood was still in good shape after blasting.

Front fenders needed some “massaging” AKA heavy modification to be able to achieve full turn radius of the 275’s up front:

Other big job is he started building the tubular radiator support:

      Video of the support:

Jeff Playing around with a possible mounting location for the Accusump:

Jeff Repairing the rear quarter panel extensions. Could not find reproductions of these anywhere! Found them for a 67…where’s the love for 66’s? Regardless Jeff was able to patch them up.

Installing the oil pan and Front accessories courtesy of Drive Junky. Big thanks to Zach @DriveJunky for working with me to customize my kit. I wanted to have a remote reservoir power steering pump (jones racing) due to having hydro boost brakes and a bigger 220A power master alternator, neither were an issue. The kit is very high quality, and you know it’s good if Ron Sutton has nothing but good things to say about them!
