      Forgestar Wheels?

Someone suggested that I look into Forgestar wheels for my PT build on my 72 Nova. On other forums I have seen nightmare stories about poor quality and awful customer service, but have also seen happy customers. Does anyone have any personal experience with this company?

They are all built to order and it does take a while so plan ahead.

Awesome, Thanks Donny. Good to hear some positive comments on their wheels. Did you order through them or a third-party?

The wheel company I use for refin/repairs actually does the final finish on a lot of Forgestars wheels. The lips are thin. They may be more prone to bends if they hit something hard, and if they do bend, they are harder (or impossible) to repair. That being said, they are a good value compared to many wheels. Did you also look at TSW?

I feel like I've heard worse about TSW than Forgestar, but if you know something I don't please share! I kind of had the understanding that TSW is like a lesser quality Volk or BBS. I also worried about the stigma of putting a wheel like TSW on a classic car.

Stigma Shmigma... Go with what you like! I hadn't heard much negative on the TSW, but I know the lips are thicker than the Forgestars at the shop. We have a guy who races the TSW in our local SCCA CAM class on his 65 Mustang with no problems so far...

I really appreciate your insight. I like the Tremblant, Max, Interlaggos and Nurburgring. Are any styles more reliable to your knowledge?

That I'm not sure, my wheel repair guy says all the TSWs he has seen are thicker lipped than Forgestar...

      forgestar

I have them on one of my camaros and I drive and abuse the hell out of the car, so far way better than my billet rims that I bent instantly on my other car.

I have a set on my 370Z and I love them. I have slammed a couple of pot holes with no issues. Price was reasonable.

Stielow has them on the Jackass reboot. That will be the ultimate test.

Mike D is on his third set of Forgestars (third build on car). He beats on them pretty hard. I definitely think if the 1000hp twin turbo monster can handle them then you'd probably be just fine.

You're not safe from a nasty surprise no matter which company you choose to purchase from. My impression is they all have their skeletons in the closet. You want to go with the company that have the least amount of skeletons.

I have TSWs. The only interaction Ive had with Forgestar is through a friend. He asked me who in my area did quality powder coating because 2 of wheels came black and the other 2 came polished - he wanted all black.

I had the Nurburgrings on my AMG for my track set of wheels and they worked great. I sold them to a friend of mine and he is still using them and they look like new after about 5 years.

I've literally sold 100s of sets of Forgestars, was one of their original dealer/distributors. Many of my customers have purchased them specifically for track wheels. No structural issues yet, after several years now.

You might not need any. What size and backspacing/offset do you need.
