Value of 2015 GMC L83 5.3 LITER ALL ALUMINUM

What would the value be for this LS engine? 2015 GMC L83 5.3 LITER ALL ALUMINUM. ENGINE IS A 355 HORSE LS BASED GM SMALL BLOCK
      2015 GMC SIERRA 1500 Z-71 ALL TERRAIN.

And what would it cost to turn this into a 500hp engine?

      Thanks in advance!!

Is this a Gen V engine? If so, then it has direct injection and I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole, DOD, VVT, etc...

While I agree, that at this point in time the engine holds no real value as swap material, what about the direct injection scares you?

The direct injection is the least of my concerns. The DOD and VVT is more troubling, only because it takes more money to deal with them properly. I can't recall for sure, but I believe the engine mounting points are different, the water pumps are different than Gen III & IV...

From my stand point why bother when there are literally millions of other engines that are easier to work with?

The L83 is one of the new Gen V engines. Almost nothing will interchange with any LS motors except maybe a couple accessories. As for value, do you have all of the parts with the engine? That will be a big factor in how much its worth, especially the computer.

As for getting 500 hp, it's doable, but the limiting factor is the high pressure DI pump. Luckily, you can get one from an LT4 and it will solve that problem. These motors have lots of cool features in them, oil squirters, forged cranks, multi-displacement oil pumps, etc... It might be difficult, but I would love to try to swap one of these into a car. Keep all of the engine management features intact and you would have a powerful engine that'll still manage 25+ pretty easily.

If you can pick it up go for it there are people out there who have done all the hard work for you like Speartech and Current Performance the DOD, VVT can be programmed out! There are people that have gotten the engine running and enjoying them! People will come around to the motors and start making things for them just at this point it is a hurry up and wait game!
