Yeah getting real close, as usual I need to finish up some last minute things on my car to be ready.

Haven't thought of the drone, I might try the Go-pro this time if my buddy brings them out.

I know it would be a bit of a drive but spectators are welcome (track charges $5 for spectators) if your interested.

I wish I could make it!!!

I would be interested in seeing some lap times for each of the cars.

I'm shooting to have my car road-worthy and on your list by the next track-day.

Hopefully November will be the next one, just too hot in the summer in Alabama

That's the truth! I spend most of my time in the summer looking for the next air conditioner to move into!

As usual I didn't take a lot of picture but I have a few that I snapped... maybe will get a few more from the other participants.

      Ready to go....

this is what happens when you add a passenger and you run out of clearance to the inner fender bolts, guess we will have to swapped to some button head bolts and get less roll.

So I put on the new wheels and tires that I brought just in case... 275-35R18 all around what a difference over the 225 front 255 rear set up from earlier in the day.

Loaded up going home, just the ones who couldn't get enough still hanging around.

I am also digging the new wheel/tire package. It made quite a difference in my cornering speed. Went from topping out 3rd (95 mph) in the straights to shifting to fourth 1/2 way down the straight it was amazing. Need more alignment tuning to dial in more caster and set camber to a degree or so and try again.

Also went to a cruise-in Saturday afternoon and the Camaro got more attention with the new wheels than it ever had before, so all around massive improvement.

      Already looking forward to November.

They are TSW Sprints 18X9.5 et 20 (roughly 6" of backspacing) B C 5x120. I can't afford the big boy wheels.

What are the typical lap times like? Are any of you guys running a cage?

I would be interested in seeing some lap times for each of the cars.
      I don't know everyones time but I do have a few examples;

my Camaro running around a 1:18 on the old small tires 225/255 instead of new 275's
the Miata was running 1:20-21 or so
the race prepped Boxster was running 1:13s

so Im pretty happy with my time considering how little experience I have and the room for improvement I have with suspension set up and the new wide tires. might give that Porsche a run for its money in a few more track days

Haha! I hope you hadn't answered that question already! I completely forgot I'd asked.

That's impressive considering the age difference in those cars!

I have a lot to learn and maybe get a little bigger "eggs" to drive into the braking zone full throttle, still learning the car and gaining confidence in its and my ability.

Interestingly enough, that's why I was asking about whether you guys are running cages in your cars or not. Last weekend was the first time I've taken my car out since the suspension upgrades. Going down one of the on-ramps to the interstate a.. ahem... "spirited" pace, I started thinking about all the nearly 60 year old parts still in the car

I imagine running up on one of those turns flat out could cause some similar thoughts!

      definitely a pucker factor,

I am considering modifying a 74 nova I have for race duty (cage, suspension, LS 6 speed) to keep from butchering my driver quality Camaro. at some point a cage and 5 point harness will start being essential to get the most out of the car/driver and safety somewhere in there. (but if the wife ask the cage/race seat and belts are strictly for safety).

Have you heard of ALSCCA? Looks like they hold events regularly in talladega.

Yep, had considered getting into the auto-x scene but they lost there venue this year so last I looked the season was pretty much canceled. Not sure I'm ready for the big boy racing yet still have a lot of learning as a driver and mechanic.
