I have seen transmission failures using a GV unit behind a stock Muncie. The 319 aluminum alloy of a stock Muncie case will stretch with repeated full throttle shifts using the GV unit.

The AutoGear (356 aluminum alloy) SuperCase with the 1-1/2" thrust button will eliminate the case stretch.

      Your stats: 60 MPH with a 3.50:1 and 25.4" tires = 2778 RPMs The GearVenders unit has a .78:1 OD. Your new 60 MPH RPMs would be 2778 x .78 = 2167 RPMs.

Things look a lot different when your driveline is engineered on paper. Only you can decide if the $2895.00 is worth the cost to save 611 RPM at 60 MPH.

thanks for info. the price of a gear vendors od and a 5 speed are close together. I can not afford a t56 or a lgt 700 as both are over $4000. I hear of all the problems with the tko 600 and cost to rebuild one, and since mr murphy sits on my shoulder all the time I am afraid I will get a bum one. The motor is only 500 to 525 hp and I get on it a lot but I will not drag or autocross it the tk0600 would do the job.

Where are you seeing a T56 Magnum for $4000? The price I see is $2995 which is only $100 more the the GV unit. For the extra $100 you get a complete new transmission and two over drive gears. The problem I see with the GV unit is that you basically spend the cost of a new transmission and still have to use your old 4 speed.

I have a GV behind a TH350 powered by a zz383 2800 stall and love it!! My cruising RPM at 70 was 3000, now 2100. Made my car a lot more distance driving friendly. My friend has a GV behind his muncie in a 69 Z28. He to thinks its the best thing ever especially not having to alter a un molested Z28 other than the drive line. Sure Tremecs are cool but I personally am very happy with my GV. The folks at GV are always there for you too.

Sadly the math doesn't work out for your RPM drop. The OD ratio of the GearVendors OD is .78:1.

      3000 x .78 = 2418 RPM

I contemplated on the same thing. I went with the Gear Vender OD for my M21 Muncie. My car is still in the restoration process so I have no performance input yet. Yes the T-56 is only a couple hundred more, but you still have additional costs beyond that, bell housing, shifter, etc. so the cost is more. The guys at Gear Venders are A++++ in customer service.
