OK... I am stumped. I could not find any good reason to go with the Weiand 144 on an 81 Camaro. Maybe if you were trying to make it '80s period correct? Or if you were going to put it in a show car. A 144 is pretty much for looks. The old straight lobe superchargers are very inefficient and the 144 is pretty small.

Pro Charger is hands down better. You can buy the Pro Charger in whatever size you need for the desired boost level. If desired you can easily intercool the Pro Charger. The Pro Charger can be run with a lower hood. The Pro Charger can be run easily with EFI, but can be adapted for a blow through system w/ a carb if needed. Think of it as a belt driven turbo.

The only reason that I can think the the 144 would be better is if you already have it!! Other than that, what he said! LoL!

I hate both, but if forced to choose, I'd go with the centrifugal procharger. The 144 is about as useless as they come. I had a B&M one and it was a constant source of maintenance.

Depends on what you were putting it on. I had a pro charger on a 69 Camaro and a 142 weiand on a sbc in an austin Healey sprite. The 142 was pretty cheap and tried and true simple. The pro charger is a lot better obviously but if your happy with 5 lbs or so at low Rpms, I loved the weiand.

I been in a vehicle equipped with each-the Weiand is kinda dated but it works. The regular v-belt brackets would flex pretty bad on hard launches-enough to toss the alternator belt which would then get caught up under the supercharger beltnand toss it off too. I installed a stock type GM serpentine drive to remedy the whole belt tossing problem-that was the biggest by headache with a mininroots blower IMO.
