      Remote starter recommendation needed

I am in the market for a remote starter for MotiV8r that has a manual trans.

Do you have one you would recommend or perhaps one that should be avoided? I don't need a blingy remote and I don't want to run it using my phone. It needs to be 2 way unit and be one of the units with a long range.

      Thanks

I picked up a DEI Avital 5303 Remote Start System with Alarm from A1 Electric and installed it myself a couple of years ago. Good price and it has held up well. No problems and has always worked. It has a 2-way remote and a conventional key fob.

Here is a link to the Directed (DEI) brands. You have probably heard of some of their alarm brands like Python or Clifford.
      http://www.directed.com/Brands/

For a manual transmission remote start a neutral safety switch is a must. This means you need a remote start system with a neutral safety input. This basically requires the car to be in neutral to activate the remote start. You can use a limit switch with custom bracket that closes only when the gear selector (i.e. Stick shift) is in the neutral position. If you remote start your car in gear it will ruin your day. I am pretty sure you have enough horsepower to overcome your parking brake.

DEI product is Viper, Python, Avital, Clifford. They own the security/remote start market and have best tech support(thats what is needed for the newer cars of today)

      +1 on the DEI products...
In addition to the remote start, you can add the SmartStart GPS system and have a kick ass GPS tracking alarm setup from your phone.
