Any tips or links to GM A Body 4 wheel disc brake conversion?

I have a 72 Cutlass with 4 wheel drums, I want to convert to a 4 wheel disc set up. As affordable as possible. I don't want disc brakes from a lighter car and want strong pressure going to the calipers. I would like to use parts that I can stop at NAPA, to get pads and disc if need be. I travel all over the US in this car.

98-02 Camaro LS1 rear brakes will bolt right on to a 10 or 12 bolt axle. You need to make a small 1/8" spacer, but other than that its completely bolt on. That's what I am using on the rear of my Chevelle.

That was fast! Awesome, do the fronts work as too? What would you use for the Master Cylinder?

Various vendors offer adapter brackets for the front. If your budget can stand it, consider the SpeedTech AFX spindles, then you can run any C5/C6 brake package. The added bonus is better geometry and modern sealed bearings.

MC size will depend on whether you want to go manual or power. I run a Dodge 7/8" bore MC as a manual set-up with C6 Z06 brakes in the front and LS1 Camaro brakes in the rear.

I don't have the front half of my brake system done yet, so I won't be much help there lol. I did pick up a set of C6 front calipers with 10,000 miles from a junkyard though, That's what I'm going to use on the front. Kore 3 has several brake kits, that's where I'll get the brackets for the Vette calipers and the other parts needed. Idk about a master cylinder either, I'm probably going to run a hydroboost, so I'll find a MC that works well with that. As Andrew said, MC depends on if you're using power or manual brakes.

Right Stuff has great bolt on parts for a great price at Jegs or Summit. I upgraded to Wilwood calipers for the front about a year later.

Kore 3 adapters, C5/C6 brakes. for the front.
As for rears either Kore 3 /Corvette OR S10 disc brake conversion. They work great from the few cars I have helped finish up.

First we need to know what size of wheels you're looking to run. If you're doing 15" wheels the C6 stuff isnt going to fit and you'll be borderline with the LS conversion. If you're doing 18" wheels the 11" D52 TRSD conversion isn't going to look right.

I was wanting to stay with 15s but everyone tells me tires and brake options open up with 18's.

Thanks for posting this question. I have the same car/setup currently and similar goals. Only difference is, I plan to upgrade to 18's.

Do a C5 corvette swap, calipers, rotors, and mastercylinder/booster. Buy it all used on ebay. Instructions here:

Nice write up Pete. Not sure how I missed that before. Are you still running the C5 kit? How is it performing 4 years later?

I've read your write up many times, great write up and the brakes are pretty good for the money, better than any tires i can fit on my stock bodied 68 firebird or 67 tempest anyway.

LS1 front and rear will work on all 17's. Most 16's as well but max tire size is 255. Much lighter than the cast-iron Right Stuff calipers and parts available anywhere.

Im looking at kore3 for front on my Monza, but probably have to make parts too adapt Corvette stuff too my 66 Caprice.
Still debating front end stuff on Monza. Caprice is also question up for debate.
I can us 69-82 Corvette disc on Caprice front.
Will probably use s10 rears to allow using 15" slicks.

quick google search yielded this... guy made his own bracket, just a 1/4 thing with 4 holes in it actually, and used c5 front brakes... take a look.

Thanks for all the help. I haven't been on here in a long time! I got rear ended and it put a hault to my progress. I'm now in Atlanta, the cutlass is about to get sprayed.
