      Guess I'm going to Nationals

I just registered to compete in the SCCA Solo Nationals in Lincoln, NE this September.

      http://www.scca.com/events/index.cfm?eid=6995

This will be my first time to Nationals, thankfully a lot of our Region members go regularly and will be there to hold my hand so to speak. I am a bit bummed that the CAM class I race in with our local SCCA Region isn't a National class, I'll be racing in Street Modified.

Hopefully will get to meet more of you from the board that will also be traveling to Lincoln this fall to compete.

It should be fun for you. It guess it's around 1300 entries. I haven't been but just being there to check out all the builds for the classes would be fun.

Maybe someone will have a set of DOT RACE RUBBER with low lap#s for you to use. If someone does. You could end up hooked on stickies..

I raced on some gently used A6s all year last year, but they were 275/60/16s. I honestly think my car is just as fast on the Falkens this year and it is easier to drive.

Now, if a set of brand new 275/40/17s A6s fell into my lap that might peak my interest... :D

Don't you have to be invited to this event for the CAM class?

You have to be invited to the CAM Invitational at the Pro-Solo Finale the prior weekend.

That is not a prerequisite for racing at Solo Nationals in CAM though.

Good luck, you'll love it. The number one piece of advice I can give you is RELAX, RELAX, RELAX! Don't forget to have fun.
I remember the first (and only) time I went, and it was an amazing experience. Then, when I got home, I sold the car and put all the money into my 68 Mustang. Classic American Muscle is where it's at!!!!!

Was just going to say to change your entry from SM to CAM. If this class is going to become a legitimate Nationals class, the numbers need to be there. SCCA won't consider entries that are in other classes even if these cars *could* be CAM cars.

You are very correct Mary. I've been checking every couple of days to see if they had Motorsportreg updated with the new classes added and today was the first time I've seen them there.

I don't think SCCA has done a particularly good job of letting the word out that one can enter CAM classes at Nationals without being invited to the CAM Invitational first, I know I was confused about that until I was told directly we could. So I'm trying to help get the word out to others that the CAM classes (there are 3 separate ones) are NOW available to register in for anyone.

Are you going to Lincoln Mary and if so, what class are you going to race in?

I too thought you had to be invited. Just something in the wording. Was interested cruising up in the wagon and competing, as I grew up just west of there. But have since made other plans. Oh well......

Lance, have lots of fun. Plus take lots of Pics!!!!

I will be there and so will Bruce Cambern driving Bruce's car in CAM-S. I am just getting into the CAM classes and learning about whats going on. I do know, we need to show support so these classes will succeed and become national classes next year.
