Will it be Danny Popp -VS- Junior Johnson @ Wilmington SCCA Match Tour?

I see that Mike "Junior" Johnson has entered his Z06 Corvette in the Wilmington Ohio SCCA Match Tour event next weekend. Rumor has it that he did it to coax Danny Popp into bringing out his all conquering C3 Corvette for some mano- eh- mano showdown action. Will Danny take the bait? Will one of Pro-Touring's best come out to put it to one of SCCA's best? Will the teacher become the student?

      WILL THIS HAPPEN?!

How can a new corvette be in the CAM class? I thought that class was for older cars?

I'm guessing that the challenge is for bragging rights and not for class wins.

The way CAM's rules are written it is up to the Regions as to whether there are model / year restrictions. If the hosting Region doesn't add any restrictions then the class is open to all model years. Cincinnati Region who is hosting the SCCA Match Tour next weekend added CAM at the last minute without any restrictions.

Then is should be called American Muscle/AM vs. CLASSIC American Muscle/CAM. Either way.....it's still a place to play!

And that may happen in the future. SCCA is wanting to see who shows up in what this year and make further classing decisions after they get some data.
