My 1997 C1500 autocross truck at LS Fest 2013

Hey RBEAST thanks for the interest. I've been so busy that I haven't been on here lately. I do have updates but I got a new phone with no photos on it. I'll try to post some pictures tonight. I had planned on bringing the truck to good guys nationals Des Moines over the 4th of July but I broke the truck drag racing a week early. Had a plastic power steering pulley grenade at 6000 rpm and did a lot of damage to the hood fenders water pump and radiator.

      Your truck looks amazing.

Were you able to repair the damage from the pulley?

Thanks Tig. Mechanically I got it fixed and ready to go again for this weekend. Cosmetically its not fixed. Smoothed out the dents and through some stickers over the blown off paint for now, looks dumb but its keeping the paint from chipping any further for now. Ill fix the paint work after this weekend.

Random enough but not outta place.

Your dads truck is pretty bad ass to.

Oh and how did you get the design on your tires? I just noticed that, looks sweet.

What wheels and tires are you running? Back spacing and stuff too if you don't mind.

The wheels and tires are 19x9" TSW. Not sure on offset or model I bought them used. I used tire ink from summit racing to do the white letters and checkers. The road coarse went awesome last weekend. The truck handled amazing, better then on an autocross track. All was well up until Saturday mid morning when the old 5.3 exploded! Blew a hole in the oil pan. Last night I pulled the right head off and pistons 2,4,6 hit the intake valves, rods 4 and 6 are broke. Time to upgrade!

You can see this piston spun almost 180*

Not sure what caused it but I killed it pretty good. New plans are to build an aluminum motor, most likely an ls1, make 500 wheel horse or close, dry sump, built 4L70e that ive got sitting in my garage along with the TCI paddle shift kit.

Let me start out by saying I love the direction of your build. Sorry to see about the engine. What rpm were you running when it let go?

Thanks Steve-O-08. It let go at 6600 rpm. Its always had a little bit of a harmonic imbalance to the motor and I think that along with the high rpm is what killed it.

Oh ok. Sounds like that could have done it. The nee set up sounds like it'll be pretty cool. I like the idea of an all aluminum dry sump. And the paddle shifted 4L70e will be cool too. Might go full-manual with my 80e.
