Matt, thanks for the candor and pointers. That's exactly why I like being part of this PT network of guys that build great rides and actually drive them. Everyone that has seen this car in person expects it to be some blue ribbon trailer queen - they will be disappointed as I built this as a driver and I plan to drive it hard. That said, I've had less than 20 minutes behind the wheel due to the timing of the weather here in lovely Michigan. I will not be driving at RTTC but it will be in very capable hands with Jared Merrill, the owner of J-Star motors. He took me for a ride in one of his Lambo's a couple months ago and I was white-knuckle lovin' it the whole time. Jared is dialing the suspension in as we speak so I should have some updated road video to post this week.

What type of helmet do you have?

Your instincts on the 4" inlets were correct and we added a progressive linkage system to feather the openings. I am talking to Brian about putting 5 or 6 lb springs rather than 12 lb springs while I learn to drive this beast. They built the 69' Camaro for Josh Kalis last year and he has plenty of power on low boost. For now, it stands at 1000+. You're right, it will be an interesting first lap!

It’s been a while since the last post but we’ve had a ton of fun the last couple of months. The car has been in S. Cal since the beginning of the year where **** from Best of Show and car guys (and pro skaters) Josh Kalis and Nick Dompierre helped with the initial break in. They also ran it at RTTC2 and had a great time. Due to having the completely wrong tires it will not connect in 1st or 2nd. I’ve attached a few videos where you can see Nick pushing the first two gears hard but it finally connected in 3rd. Solution – a pair of Nitto’s widest NT05’s get mounted on Monday and we are going to set up the front suspension a bit more aggressive for additional autocross events this summer. We are also adding a DSE sway bar to the quadralink in the rear. The car is heavy but with these tweaks and some more time behind the wheel we should be competitive. I live 10 miles from Grattan Raceway and will be spending some time out there getting to know the car. Other than a few minutes in Dec., I haven’t driven it yet and cannot wait. It ships back to MI next week!

So far we will be running at Run to Music City (Nashville) in May, Motor State Challenge (Michigan) in June, Goodguys Nationals (Columbus) in July and the Performance Car Challenge (Joliet) in July. Hope to see some of you there!

Here are some pics of Kalis’ Camaro that was featured in this month’s Camaro Performers and the Firebird. Kalis and Dompierre been having fun doing the local S. Cal events. I’ve also included a few clips of the RTTC2 event.

Glad the car is getting dialed in and seeing some action. The pictures look great too.

I'm not really an F-Body fan, but I'd give my left nut for this car. It looks awesome.

Here’s a few more pictures of the car from last week.

Also, Josh and Nick brought the cars to Cars and Coffee in Carlsbad on Saturday. Here’s a few pictures from that event.

Those are Nitto NT05 tires. I am having a set mounted tomorrow. Great tires, very soft and 200 tread wear. I cannot wait to get the Nitto's on. Should made a ton of difference in grip and cornering. Here's a link off of Nitto's site:

Oh great... now I have to re-think my wheel size choice....

I was thinking 18's all the way around but they do not make a 335 in an 18" size. And for the kicker... Forgeline does not make the S03 in 19"... man this might just blow the whole plan... Not that it really matters as I have not purchased any of those parts yet. I just REALLY like the S03's!

BF Goodrich makes the KDW's in 335-30-18 and Toyo makes the Proxes RA1 and Proxes R888's in 335-30-18's.

      Soooo many choices....

Thanks for taking the time to post the info none for sure!

I learned a somewhat expensive lesson on this. Pick your tires first and then buy the wheels. Most autocross guys are running the Nitto NT05's or the BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KDW (http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/tire-...-t-a-kdw-tires). Nitto has more sizes for 19" and 20" rear wheels, they are wider as well. I would go with one of these, especially if you are running big power. Thanks.

Thanks for the advice! I had both choices all figured out I was planning 275-35-18 fronts and 335-30-18 rears. BF Goodrich makes the g-force T/A KDW in those sizes. I REALLY like those Nitto tires though.... I have heard good things about the KDW's too so if I stay on that path I am ok with that too. AS for big power.... that is the plan...

I know I’ve been dark for a while but we’ve been busy on the circuit with the Bird. We participated in the Motor State Challenge this summer and it was the first time on the track for the car. Good shake-down exercise and a faulty thermostat foiled us! We had fun though and made some changes.

We hooked up with the Hot Rod Power Tour in Muskegon and won the dyne competition. The car took “Best of Show” at the Del Shannon Classic here in MI – a very large show for this state. We entered, but did not win, SMOY in Columbus at the Goodguys event, but had a blast on the autocross track and meeting a bunch of people.

The car was featured in Popular Hot Rodding’s September issue with a 6 page spread (see link below). It also appeared in the Oct. and Nov. issues for autocross events. It was seen on Hot Rod TV and the current issue of the Goodguys Gazette. We just had a request to run an article in a French publication – I will keep you posted on this.

To top it all off we received the invite to the optima Challenge following SEMA next month. We will be loading up on Thurs. and heading to Vegas. The Willy Wonka Ticket is in hand! We will also be attending the dinner – hope to see some of you there!

Here are some updated pics and video of a fun-filled summer. Enjoy!
