Warning for anyone using E85
Apparently there have been reports of people's oil turning into green jelly. Not good.

This is only for their "green oil" of course, but makes you wonder about the effect of E85 on other oils.

It's a common thing with running E-85. I run it in my WRX and i have to change the oil every 1500 miles or it the ethanol will get mixed with the oil.

would this also happen even with amsoil synthetic?
72 buick skylark
twin-turbo fuel injected buick 350..perhaps stroked to 370 in the works!

well accordind to the bullitin oils rated as ILSAC GF-5 / API SN are made to deal with this subject...but i'm prettyy sure these are the oils that you cant use with flat tappet engines even with the use of zddp additives as the calcium detergents make the zddp counter productive..
hopefully ive mistaken but i'll have to re-research that particular subject72 buick skylark

the oil in my 84 T Type looks just fine when i run nothing but E85 in it and i've never seen anyone on a GN board that runs E85 say anything about the oil getting contaminated.

This is the first I've ever heard of anything like this. I've done a ton of research regarding E85 and have not heard one complaint about green jelly oils. lol

well appearently if you make sure the oil temp is at/abpve180 before you shutoff your good
