86 Monte SS getting an LS2

I am still trying to come up with a project name for this thing. Not having a very inspiring moment right now, not coming up with anything.
Before I tore into the car AGAIN, i looked like this:

I had a 95 LT1/T56 that will soon (hopefully) be changed to an LS2/T56.

T he motor from is from a Trailblazer SS with very little miles on it. It is still setting in the back of the truck, so when I get it out I will take more pics of it & post on here. I will try to keep this updated, but I am bad at doing that so don't yell at me if I skip around. I don't have many parts yet, will update that as they come.

Here is the car in the back garage waiting for the LT1/T56 to come out. They are currently out & LT1 has been sold.

Here is the motor still setting in the back of the truck:

Here was the very first time I had seen this car, it was at the Corvette Nationals at Indianapolis Raceway Park in Indianapolis. It had a 383 in it, skinnies up front, maybe a 245 in the back. Flat/stock hood, Interior parts painted white, column painted white. It was OK, But wasn't a paint scheme I would have picked.

Then a little while later a coworker said there was a Monte at a bank in his home town that was for sale. So I went and looked at it, no motor/trans, 4 spares for tires, radio gone.... the usual stripped look. I guess the bank had repossessed it & they stipped all the goodies out before the bank took it. It was the perfect car for an LT1/T56 swap that I had been wanting to do. So I bought it for next to nothing. And started gathering parts. I didn't care for the paint scheme, but the more I looked at it in the garage, the more it grew on me. Found the LT1/T56, found a Grand National rear...... and first time on the road it looked like this:

Then I started a cam swap, & that turned into an exhaust swap, suspension swap, brake swap hood swap and on and on and on. Then looked like this:

So now it is time for another change.

Yeah Yeah Yeah, I can't turn a wrench while setting here mentoring Beta software testers at the ball room in the Marriott. But I can surf a little.

Plus the yard back to the back garage is a little soft for a 6000lb truck to drive on.

I had debated that, was told it would be easier to just go with an LSx version of the T56 instead of converting the LT version over.

Thanks. Like I said it grew on me. When I got the cowl hood I knew I was going to have it painted a solid maroon instead of the scallops. Scallops on the hood I felt were just too much. If/when I ever get to paint it I would go with some type of blue or gray.

I had them listed together as a complete set, got lots of requests on the tranny, not much on the motor. Had someone that wanted the motor, so I sold it & now no interest in the tranny. Listed it for $1700 for tranny, Hurst shifter, bell housing, flywheel, clutch, hydraulics.

It will but I believe it will require a different flywheel & probably clutch setup too.

I have been debating on the oil pan, was leaning towards the CTS-V pan for some extra ground clearance over the GM musclecar pan. Gonna run about $250, but then I am also debating the stamped steel Autokraft pan. It has road race style baffles, holds 5.5 qts, costs $400. I better make up my mind now, I don't want to go one route & then pull the motor back out to change the pan.

Motor mount adapter plates arrived today. Trans-Dapt 1" set back plates.

What size threads are the tranny to block bolts? Need to get some for the engine stand. I'm lazy I don't want to search through my bolt box for some that fit.

Here is a picture of the Holley LS Retro-fit oil pan I purchased for my LS3 conversion, its really a nice heavy duty pan, I got it for just over $400.00 and I think I'll be happy with it. it comes with the baffle plate and the oil pick up tube.
