Default GM Tech Center Stop Canceled?

Tony, do you have any insight on this? I hope it's just a rumor...

Will the 2009 Hot Rod Power Tour Make a Stop at the Tech Center?

Original Question: There are rumors flying that the Hot Rod Power Tour 2009 was told that they can no longer stop at the GM Tech Center on Tuesday June 9th. If the event is sponsored by the GM Performance Parts Division, why would GM cancel the stop at the Tech Center? Isn't this a tremendous advertising opportunity at a time when our company desperately needs a bit of "good press?"

The Hot Rod Power Tour was scheduled to stop at the GM Warren Tech Center on June 9th to participate in special events planned for the day. GM has decided not to host the stop on the tour, so that the employees remain focused on restructuring GM for continued success in the future. We regret the timing of this decision, and are working with the Hot Rod Team for a replacement location for the stop.

This sucks, I was REALLY looking forward to driving up to the Tech Center that day... as a car guy and long time GM fan this is getting so frusterating.

    Let's keep this unpolitical, please.

    Default It's official

No GM Tech Center stop. You might consider changing your hotel rooms.

I received an email today from family events confirming this and saying its 22 miles difference in the new venue ( Metro Beach Metropark ) Trying to change hotels at this point would cost a fortune, and 22 miles out of 3k is nothing.

The city of Warren is also sponsoring a cruise night. That should be a tire smoken good time.

Hey Trapin, I'd like to RSVP for three please....just the one night. Maybe a double Queen room with a hot tub and some cold beer. Thanks. This will be much easier to drive/walk back and forth to the show. Any one else....if there's enough of us we may get a group rate.
