Default Spot Rot guage - Body Filler detector

I posted this in a thread but thought I'd add it here. No I dont sell these but Ive been using one for years. Its a magnet with a spring and guage that lets you guage how thick the filler is in a car. When you get used to using it you can tel if theres multiple layers of paint from panel to panel.

I think its a must have for anyone buying an older car, and the the price is right.

the link doesnt work, heres a pic. Ill see if I can find a source. Eastwood distributed them when I bought mine, I no longer see it on their website, only the proguage paint thickness guage for $50 which would be nice to have also.

I have one of those, but haven't played with it enough to get a feel for how good/bad it works.

I have one also and they work well, but you have to get the feel for using it.

I remember a sneaky way I was told about but have never seen or had one. A ring (looks normal on your finger) that is magnetic, you just run your hand over the body and the ring will stick or not stick if there is filler.

I always heard that using a refrigerator magnet was a nice cheap solution.
