Default What to do with an old lawn mower engine

I have a really good 5hp lawnmore engine that runs great. The pan is shot and hardly worth the troube to fix. I'm getting a new mower soon. What can I do with the old one? Ebay? Make somthing useful with it? Could I convert it to a power sprayer or something?

Those things are crazy. I sold mine cause all it wanted to do was flip over. It was too fast for it's own good. Fun but I ended up sell it for double what I had in it.

remove the governor. That will allow the engine to rev with the throttle.

I vote for the blender. Nuttin will impress the neighbors more when you fire that thing up to make your favorite adult frosty beverage!

    Ok this seems kinda cool.

    http://www.motherearthnews.com/Alter...ectic-Car.aspx

This guy put an electric starter in a Opal connect dirrectly to the transmission. He uses a 5hp lawn mower engine to a 100 amp generator.

This has got me thinking The same idea but with an electric motorcycle. I wonder if I could use the lawn more motor to run an alternator for a battery and drive the back tire with a starter motor?

OK I think I have most of the part to make this work. I have a friend looking to see if he still has on old motor cycle frame. I'm thinking the car starter should work for a while but would burn up the bearing before to long.

Anyone have a guess what kind of RPM you would get with a car starter? I think I would have enough torque but what kind of speed could I get?

What are the last words of most rednecks? "Hey guys Watch this"
