They butcherd Chris Gordzie's dad's big block.
It arrived full of metal shavings and then they raked him over the coals on the "warranty".. wanted to turn his crank. For him to get a new crank he had to sign off and void his warranty and they would fix the other issues.
I've also heard other bad rumors, but I only talk about ones I personally know about.
Maybe Chris will chime in.
You shopping around?

Yeah I'm starting to. Looking for someone to build me an LSX for my G body malibu. What to finally get it finished this winter and maybe do some racing with it in the LSX bracket car classes or whatever next year!
We have multiple LS engine options and builders. We have our own, Wegner, Mast.
So what are you looking for? How much Powa?
600 all motor. On second thought maybe 700. Well more than 6oo less than 800 or so.
No problem. We have that in 418CI in Brian Finch 70 Camaro that has won every Pro Touring event he has entered. He drives it 100s of miles to the races, runs the **** out of it 30- 40 laps of autocross on the rev limiter, 20-30 laps on the road coarse, and gets 20MPG each way to and from the event.
And these 418s are so cheap you will wonder what is wrong!
Like maybe as much power as that -----> $15,000.00 is.
1/2!
Looke no further then here http://shafiroff.com/
Pretty damn close. $8400 is intake to pan, That is with forged pistons, 4340 crank and rods, LSX/R intake, Ported 90MM T Body. Made 504 RWHP / 486RWTQ (that is at the tires) in Brian's car
That seems like an fantastic bargain.

Here's another guy you may want to consider http://www.kurturbanperformance.com/ He can build anything from a N/A motor up to 2500 Hp Twin Turbo motors and his stuff is flat reliable he has no interest in building High HP hand grenades.
All I can say is stay away from Mitchell. The man is a genius, I'll give him that, but he'd screw his own mother to make a buck. I worked for him for a short time years ago and his s.o.p. leaves much to be desired.
A few years ago I was looking for a Big Block for my Chevelle. I have researched all of the big name companies.you will always find people that have had problems with them. that's how it is when you let a bunch of monkeys run your shop. Unless the guy is building it himself and he is really particular, you might as well go buy a crate motor that they don't even test run, check gaps, etc...
So what did I do???? I built my own slowly, making sure everything was right. My blue print was to copy the exact specs of motors already out there that have been tested already.
My direct experience, go elsewhere. I'll never buy another product from them.
Bill Mitchell is not building motors anymore. They have authorized builders that can buy a engine kit and build it for you.
