Default 1973 Oldsmobile V Code 455 Four Speed Cutlass S Coupe

1973 Oldsmobile V Code 455 Four Speed Cutlass S Coupe

This car was an Arizona car until 2 ½ years ago when I purchased the car in Phoenix Arizona. I sold the car to a good friend of mine and recently re-purchased the car. The car is loaded with many good options that include the V code 455 Engine, 4 Speed Transmission, Factory Hurst Shifter, Power Disc Brakes, Power Steering, Factory Air Conditioning, Tilt Steering, Remote Drivers Mirror, Sport Steering Wheel, Factory Swivel Bucket Seats, Factory Console, F41 Suspension, Factory Rally Wheels, AM Radio and More! The car is the original Light Tan color with the original Saddle Tan Interior. Mileage showing on this car at the time of this ad is 96,178 miles.

The exterior of the car is in remarkable condition for its age. All the body panels on the car are original to the car. The car has had one repaint in the original color. The paint on the car is fair. The paint shines nicely and is fair for a driver car however the car will need to be repainted for show purposes or to meet most peoples standards. The front and rear bumpers are original and in good condition. The front grills are in good condition as is the front rubber bumper filler panels. The right and left front fenders are excellent and never had any rust. The hood is very nice and original. The cowl are of the car is excellent. Both doors are in excellent condition with no rust or damage. Both rear quarter panels are very nice with no rust. The bottoms of both quarter panels is excellent as are the trunk drop-offs on both sides with no rust and nice original drain holes. The trunk lid is nice with no rust. The floor pans in the car are superb with no rust. The trunk pan in the car is nice with a very little surface rusting showing due the trunk mat but there is no pitting or rust through in the pan. The bottom of the rear window area is excellent with no rust. The only rust spot on the car is at the top of the front windshield where there is a rust hole just above the stainless window trim. How is rusted there I cannot figure out! All the wheel well moldings are excellent with no dings or dents. The front windshield in the car is cracked and will need replaced. The side glass, door glass and rear glass are good. The rear quarter window stainless steel trim is excellent. The car has the Original Trim Tag is still affixed to the top of the cowl on the passenger side also lists this car as a 4 speed car with the GM code for a four speed (M20) stamped on the trim tag. This is VERY UNIQUE and not often seen. You will look long and hard to find another 73 Cutlass S with a body as solid as this car, much less a V code 455 Four Speed Cutlass S!

The interior of the car is mostly original and in fair condition. The dash and pad are in nice condition with NO cracking or shrinkage. The speaker grills and defroster vents are in nice condition. All the gauges are in good condition. The speedometer works properly as do the idiot lights. The fuel gauge works but in not accurate as the gauge goes way past full when full and runs out of gas at about a quarter of a tank indicated. The gas gauge needle needs to be re-clocked properly. The radio works on the bench but the car needs new and correct speakers. The tilt steering column is nice and tight. The sport steering wheel is in nice condition. The horn button has a Pontiac emblem instead of the correct Olds emblem. The front door panels on the car are original and in good condition. The armrests are also in good condition. The rear interior quarter panels and armrests are also in good condition. The headliner in the car is junk and needs replaced along with the rear package tray. All the seat belts are in the car and complete. The front swivel bucket seats swivel properly and are in decent condition. The front seat covers are decent and appear to have been redone at some point. The rear seat covers are original and also in decent condition. The carpet in the car is in poor condition and needs replaced. The center console is in good condition. The original Hurst shifter is still in the car and works properly. The original shifter boot is also still present. The original sunvisors are also in the car. The factory Air Conditioning and Heater controls work properly. The heat and defrost also work along with the blower motor. The factory air conditioning does not cool and will need recharged and the belt installed on the compressor under the hood. The compressor and clutch spin properly and should work properly however I have not tried to charge the system so this is only my opinion. The glove box door and glove box liner appear original. The rear plastic window trim around the rear side windows is in surprisingly good condition as are the swivel bucket seat backs.

Mechanically the car runs and drives very well. The 455 engine starts quickly and idles properly. The mechanical choke works properly. The four speed transmission shifts properly. The rear-end is quiet. I have serviced the car to include fresh oil and filter, transmission fluid change and rear-end fluid change. The car has a fresh tune-up which included setup of the distributor on a Sun distributor machine. I replaced the brake booster and master cylinder with re-manufactured parts. I have also replaced the front rubber brake hose and both front calipers. Under the hood appears original with correct and original appearing parts to include the original dual snorkel air cleaner, valve covers, intake, distributor, exhaust manifolds, power steering pump, Quadrajet carburetor, Nice original plastic inner fenders, excellent radiator support, nice dual exhaust, and more! The 455 block currently installed in the car is not the original engine block. The original engine block still exists and is owned by a previous owner of this car in Arizona. For whatever reason, I do not know why, he will not sell the engine to me or anyone. It is currently installed in his street rod and he has no intention or removing the engine. The transmission in the car is not original. The original transmission for the car is long gone according to the previous owner. The 4 speed transmission currently in the car is a Borg Warner Super T10 that shifts superb! The car has the optional F41 suspension with front and rear sway bars. The car has 2 sets of wheels and tires that go with the car. Presently on the car now are a set of American Racing Model T70 1970’s vintage aluminum 15x8.5 inch wheels with nice centers and nice 255/60-15 matching BF Goodrich T/A tires. This set of wheels and tires are perfect for this year and vintage of car. The American T70’s are a $1,000+ set of wheels and tires by themselves! Also included with the car are the original 14x7 inch body color Oldsmobile SSII rally wheels with NEW tires installed on the rims. The factory trim rings are in good shape and included. I do not have the original Oldsmobile SSII wheel center caps.

This is a very rare and desirable Oldsmobile. There were probably only a handful of 1973 Cutlass S Four Speed cars produced. As these 1973 up GM A body cars become more and more popular why not have one of the most desirable A bodies out there!
