This thing is awsome! A friend of my had a chevette that he was autoxing. The car was guttless but handled pretty well. He had moog cargo coils and rancho shocks off something on it. He ran 15" wheels and they looked big 17" will look huge.

As for the rearend lookaround for a Mustang II as they had 8 in fords and you cna make them super tough for cheap.
Figure a set of the Moser Street replacement axles, it will have bolt in axles, and for a poor mans posi order up an extra pair of side gear shims.
This litterally locks the spiders together but they will still slip some, but off the line the $1.98 posi is an old hot rodder trick.
If you have over drive figure you can use high 3s or low 4s for gears and the rear needs no actual bracing.
A friend had a 71 Vega with a 400 hp 355 and it lived through 2 yrs of racing (on stock axles) and several years of street driving by the guy who bought it.
LAst I heard it was still running the mini spool and 4.66 gears, on the street.
Also it depends on the width of the rear quarters.
As for rear suspension i would look at the triangulated 4 link from Air Ride.
Honestly some suspension that has available parts like a narrowed Nova/Camaro subframe or looking for one of the Mustang II frontends as you can get coilovers or Shockwaves for them and some sweet parts too.
As its so small it wont take much to make it stick like glue.
anotherthought would be look for a 8.8 IRS from a 89-up T-bird/Cougar.
Pull it in to the extreme and tada it has an awesom upper adjustment in the upper arms for camber too.
I installed one in a Ranger for a guy and it handles like,,,well like a Vette on steroids. Seriously the IRS was super easy to mod and it is seriously strong in light vehicles.
Oh and the rear cover tells you the ring gear size.

Good Luck

I'm just outside of Ann Arbor.

It turns out the hardest part of all this may end up being the wiring...I still need everything from the fire wall to the taillights to get this to run.
I've contacted a few places regarding custom wiring for the engine to run on its own and pretty much got laughed at!!.....no really!...... actually made me a little frustraited!
So I contacted the place I bought it from and was told they only sell the front and rear clips as whole pieces with everything still in it...They Chop the car in HALF!

INCLUDING THE WIRING!!!!!!

Well a front half goes for $3000 and the rear for $5000. I asked if they could make a note for them to ask the purchaser if it would be ok to have me call them or them call me to discuss me obtaining the wiring needed to make this run! I'll splice that **** back together if it takes me a month!!!!

SO....I ASK A FAVOR OF ANYONE READING THIS!!!

IF ANYBODY KNOWS OF GOOD SALVAGE YARDS THAT MIGHT HAVE A 08 PONTIAC SOLSTICE GXP PLEASE GET THE # AND PM ME WITH THE INFO SO I CAN GET THIS THING RUNNING!!!!

I dont care if you are a collision person and know of a wrecked GXP that I might be able to get the wiring harness from....PLEASE!! HOOK A BROTHA UP!!!

The body looks pretty good, but you can get some 'glass parts from this place: http://www.rodnrace.com/chevette.htm

Cool project! I dreamt of doing one with a BGN V-6, but you're nailing it with this Ecotec turbo setup!

Great idea! I wish I had your motivation. Are you building this car at the same time you are working full time?

Keep up the good work and the updates.

Accel DFI Gen 7 will run it. Then just use a painless harness to run the rest of the car.

On Second thought, I think that motor has direct injection... Hmm. That may be the problem.

If you wanted to go that route, an Electromotive system should run it. My brother is going to use one on a Trailblazer inline 6 for his Ludicrous Louis '54 Chevy. He had Electromotive check the coil packs and apparently, they're compatible. You just need to come up with a crank trigger.

It'd certainly be more expensive, but reworking factory harnesses can be a nightmare.

Good luck with the project! I'll be watching this as I'd considered the same swap on a 1st-gen Nova.

What is connected in the rear half of the car that will keep it from running? How much does Pontiac want for a harness??

You can pickup a 64-68 mustang 8" rear-end for nothing and can make them pretty tough. I gave two away.

I'll be looking more into this....
Gonna get it handled one way or the other, just would be nice to know everything will run the way it's supposed to.

Yes, it is direct injection.

I'll be looking into the ford 8.8... quite a few have suggested it.

I am not sure what you would need past the firewall other than the data port. Judging by the pictures the harness looks pretty complete to include the ECU. Pickup a electrical diagram if available and have at it. I don't think reworking the factory harness is that difficult, it is just time consuming. But you will need some diagrams.
