twin turbo camaro run-in
All my fab work had paid off. I finally got my friend's turbo Camaro fired off. It still needs tuning and other assembly to get it streat worthy, but at least it's now running. Hopefully in a couple of weeks it'll be finished and more vids available.

For detailed pics and info go to http://www.bartonekdragracing.com and click on the "twin turbo 406" page.
Thanks.

Thanks!!!!
I like it too.
It has open down pipes for now. I knew the turbos would muffle the sound, but I never knew it would be that quiet. Full duals is next on the list.
The timing is off by 10 degrees. When it gets bumped up, it should be really snappy.

You're right, looks very familiar. Nice clean job too, looks sweet. It could be a sister car to Alex's. Did you build it?
Do you have any ground clearance issues w/the pipes running under the car?
WOW!!! That thing booked it.
What axle gears were you running?

60' time on the 9.7 pass was 1.58
60' time on the 9.5 pass was 1.64
Yes i built the car & had a friend help me with the turbo systme @ his shop. The pipes did hit a few times because they had to be run under the crossmember & i liked my car lower than stock...so there was no choice.
Rear gears were 3.23 motive gears with a 33 spline spool/axles by Moser......using a 28x10.5 tire.

never got a chance to try them out......they lasted 9 days (Hoosier drag radials 275-60-15)
The suspension in my old Z was stock aside from Caltracs.....lets just say it didnt work on street tires, and it didnt work well on drag tires.
The new Firebird now, im hoping will work on the cruising tires (335/35/17 Hoosier drag radials)......its a ladder bar/coil over suspension......and time will tell.

Congrats on getting the car running Bartonek! Mine is in a million pieces right now again. When will we see you in Austin? I thought you were putting it in a 1st gen?

Hey Y-Try.
Alex sold the 1st gen to buy this one. It had a 505 big block that he parted out to build the 406. It's been a long process and it's almost ready for street duty. Hopefully we can get a dyno sheet and some track times in the near future.
Here's a clip of the first low boost test pass. Alex panned the camera out, so it makes it look slower than what it was. W/no boost retard and no rev limiter, I was trying to watch the boost gauge and keep it under 5psi. Things were happening pretty quickly behind the wheel.

Cool. I know it has been a long time in the works. Congrats. the car looks great, and noone could mistake that sound!
At least, now, I know what it looks like, to avaoid it. The Austin scene is kinda dead right now, but I look forward to running into you some time and drooling on the car.
