Not all the cars in Formula Drift are imports, there are the new Mustangs and the Falken tire 69 Camaro.

ive also seen an 80's el camino tearing up the track...some chargers and a viper...but it seems the imports are the best cas for it. I want to try it but im not sure if my car is good for it or not.

It's not whether your car is good for it ,it's whether or not it is good for your car . Drifting can be done with any car and some talent,it is easier with some cars than others but unless you have no power and the wheelbase of a bus you can do it with practice.

I had a 69 Mustang Grande 3spd 6cyl car when I first started driving that was so easy to drift through the corners with it was amazing. Once you got the rear out there it was wasy to keep going and keep it there.

The wear and tear on a car while drifting is emormously a give and take proposition. If something doesn't give it will take from your ability to drive and pay for dinner. Broken parts, worn tires and just plain getting caught driving recklessly is enough to keep me from drifting.

TRUE...but there are quite a bit opf drifting events in my area. I wanted to take my car out and try it but wasnt sure if it would be worth it. I have an automatic and a pedal activated e-brake...so im not sure.

Disconnect the ratchet on the ebrake and lube the return hardware,it makes for nice bootleg turns. Or so i have heard.

I was able to drift in my 98 Monte Carlo. The parking Brake was a push to engage, push to disengae type, so it simply meant hit it to start and hit it again to end. I mainly did it on the dirt roads out by the drop zone. Tons of fun, nothing to run into, and no one to catch you.

Drifting in the Camaro is easy, too much (read: more than 1/4 throttle) gas going into a turn, or full throttle coming out, and it is drift city. I won't take the Camaro on the dirt so no intentional drifting here.

I had a sweet drift in my Dodge Dsl 2500 quad cab last night, first rains of the year. My 7 yr old little boy is Big on Tokyo Drift right now looks at me and said, "Did we just drift?" I said Yup and he goes "Tight!" of couarse my repley was "Just don't tell your mom!" Solid axles much easier that IRS.

Who says you cant drift something with a long wheel base
http://videos.streetfire.net/video/1...540141fd37.htm

Ok, so the road was wet which means he cheated but thats a lot of weight to be flinging around. Ive performed the same manuever in my dually on a wet parking lot just to see if I could do it...no pics/film though.

calm down beavis!! we all know that these imports and such didnt invent drifting...but to me they definately perfected it. I know that there are some domestic cars on the "drifting circuit" now, but to me a true drift car would be a skyline or a sylvia..or really any rwd import. Like it or not...they are some serious machines. hmmm...now that i think about it...pro-touring...taking an older car...and puting in modern techology like bigger brakes...better handling components...engine upgrades.....why cant say a supra or skyline do this too? They do. Keep an open mind and you will be amazed at what you will see.

granted...the FWD cars I cant stand. There are some nice ones and even the drag cars that are FWD are hitting 7's and i think even 6's if im not mistaken, but i still dont like the whole fwd ricer vibe. But there can be nice imports...they are out there I swear!!
