NASCAR / Camaro
Some were asking if this could be done. Well my "body-guy" & I are giving it a shot. What you have here is a new McLaughlin NASCAR rolling-road-course-chassis that I am grafting together with a 1967 Camaro body. Extensive planning, measuring & head scratching occurred long before the torch was put to metal. We are past three quarters done on all the metal work to date. The few shots you see here are about four weeks ago. Once all metal work is done we will assemble all components for test fitting, then disassemble for paint work. Body is fully removable and bolts to frame work.

That is freakin cool!
I'd love to do something similar with a modern Trans-Am race chassis.

That is going to be sweet. My next project will be sorta like this, hopefully. And what about doors, will you have to climb in NASCAR style or will part of the cage be hinged.

That is freaking cool for sure! I've just got a couple questions:
If so, are there similar plans for it???

Wow! My NASCAR theme was just to have some of the components (such as: 14" mirror, Tilton pedals, window net, Basset/Aero looking wheels, quick release steering, full floater 9", Kirkey Seats, etc.) This goes way beyond, really cool!
One question: will it have roof flaps? That would be plain wicked.

Scott,
I know timing is tight, but are you planning to do the 2006 Power Tour? It would be a great way to introduce it to the world. I look forward to seeing the finished product.

That's the nice thing about streetfighters: Even if they ain't "finished", they still look so cool.

Can't wait to see it. My dream car has been Bob Owens' "The Real Deal" featured in PHR last year http://popularhotrodding.com/features/0406phr_owen/ "complete Port City Chassis front end mounted to a custom tube frame race car chassis using .095-inch wall 1-3/4-inch tubing.
Key pieces include Afco double-adjustable coil-over shocks, Speedway Engineering swaybars, an Appelton power-assisted rack and pinion attached to a custom Ididit column, a custom Watts linkage mounted to a Winters quick-change 9-inch rear with 4.11 gears, Wilwood brakes all around (8-piston calipers in front, 6-piston calipers in back) and a 22-gallon Fuel Safe fuel cell."

Oh wow that thing is SICK!
I kinda dig the wing, I was considering having a second decklid with one attached to bolt on for track days. The stang that TCP built has a nice look to it with a wing.
