Wow, I can't (and don't want to) imagine. Praise God he is well!

This makes me really think about the vaccine for our two kids 4yrs and 8 months old. I talked to the doctor about it today, she reccomended it, but I am still on the fence. But this makes me definately lean!

As you already know he means more to you than you ever thought imaginable. Now with any hardship it multiplies..... you will be a better parent and person with every issue you survive. I know this all to well myself and I feel for you and your family and only hope that you cherish every tender moment you have with him.

With the way our lives are and all the distractions thrown in our face on an hourly basis anymore it is a stark reality check when something like this is thrust upon you and you realize what trully is important. After something like this I'm sure you see life as a positive more often than a negative.

Impressive to say the least. I'm glad to hear he's doing better. I have a co-worker who just lost his daughter last Friday night to what they're saying was swine flu. From what I've heard it took all of one day to take her life. Her memorial service was last night and the burial was today. She was apparently at the hospital for 40 minutes before she passed. May she rest in peace.

That's the scary part about this damned flu. One person will be mostly unaffected by it and the next person could be gone in hours. It's as if it is a viral form of Russian Roulette.
Most other flu stains affect everyone the same way and to the same degree.

My son is back at school doing well. His speech
and motor skills have been effected as resuilt of the status elipticus, it is trauma to the brain going through that event. He has been in ICU in this state at least a dozen times. This however was the first time he had to be on a ventilator. The events themselves are tough, but what they do to him is tougher. The trauma and abuse to his brain slowly erodes his skills/ability/communication. Each event takes a little more of him and who he is away.
He is a fighter. We are of English/Welsh/Irish decent and named him Caden. Which means "Spirit of Battle" .Little did we know how much he would live up to that name.

Fall is here, the Nova is apart, he is puttering about in the garage with me, but next spring he and I shall be in it again. When I pull hard through the gears he looks at me says "again" and smiles.

Keep hanging in there and we will keep praying for your family. And you're right about the name...my son's name is Kade and he just keeps fighting. He recovers from his seizures faster than Mom and I. Keep fighting Steelrat Jr.!!!

Steelrat, I shared the thread with my wife, and she got all choked up, poor gal.
If you were any closer, she would cook him some oatmeal. lol.
Thanks for sharing your story, it reminds us how fragile the balance can be, and not take things for granted.
God Bless your family, may angels watch over Caden, and keep him safe.
