Wonder what it is gonna look like after the rain/snow that is coming tomorrow. Anyone heard what the snow level is going to be with this storm?

National Weather Service. I believe this is about 3/4 of the way to Newcomb's.
Monday: Snow before 4pm, then rain. The rain and snow could be heavy at times. High near 49. South southeast wind between 7 and 16 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 14 to 20 inches possible.
Monday Night: Rain before 10pm, then a chance of snow showers. The rain could be heavy at times. Low around 27. West southwest wind 14 to 20 mph becoming north northwest. Winds could gust as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
Mike may end up with a mountain of mud in his front yard.

I think we're pretty okay. The ridges behind my house run pretty much east to west, not down hill toward us, and the fire was at least two ridges away, so our local earth is still held in place by plants. It's going to be really nasty where the burn areas got close to structures, and the Crest will see a lot of mud and debris flow.
When I went up last Tuesday, there were a lot of crews cleaning out storm water drainage basins and otherwise trying to get ready for the rains.

90 vehicles stranded on muddy Angeles Crest Highway Sat 12 Dec 2009By Tony Barboza and Rong-Gong Lin IILos Angeles Times Staff Writer Multiple Page View Firefighters worked today to rescue people from 90 vehicles stuck in the mud along a 12-mile stretch of Angeles Crest Highway as the National Weather Service issued a flash-flood warning for the Station fire burn area in the San Gabriel Mountains.Local law enforcement officials reported flash flooding with mud and debris flow on Angeles Crest Highway about eight miles north of the 210 Freeway. At 3:15 p.m., firefighters responded to reports of scattered vehicles caught in mud flows between mile markers 27 and 39 on the highway, said Capt. Frank Reynoso of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The road was closed earlier as a rainstorm bore down on the area, but some motorists made it through just before mud descended from the wildfire-denuded mountains, making stretches of the highway impassable."We are in process of completely sealing it off," Reynoso said. No injuries had been reported.Eighty-five firefighters were dispatched to the stuck vehicles while law enforcement officials directed traffic away from the area, Reynoso said.

Sounds like we need to find another place to go. It'll be at least a couple of years before it's "re-vegetated" :( ad the erosion stops happening every time it rains.

Lance, Where is your sense of adventure, don't you want to roll down the side of ACH in the Camaro?

BTDT in the White Mountains in the Sierras. 300 feet down at dusk in the snow on a dirt road. I lost count after the second time it rolled over....... I'll pass on doing it again.

Well, it looks like the ACH is open now. Barring rain, it should stay open.

Let's hear from Mike about road conditions. If it looks bad, I may have another option.

I took a run up there today. The road is in great shape, Newcomb's is open and waiting, and there's less traffic, because the ANF is closed for all recreational uses until you get well past Newcomb's.
So 1-10-10 "Cruise the Crest"?

6:30am at the Shell station south of the west-bound off ramp and just north of the east-bound off ramp.
Sound like the 24th is a go?
