This is just the motivation I needed! I only live about 15 miles from Du Quoin. My goal is to catch up hopefully in Springfield and follow along to Du Quoin. Might even be able to head on farther south for awhile.

I just got a phone call the other day my engine is done and I'm shooting for picking it up Friday. The car's not even close to moving on it's own right now, let alone a Power Tour. It'll still be ugly, it'll still be un-finished. It'll never be as nice as most of the other cars on here.

But it's the inspiration I needed!!!

Sorry, it's not much to look at but here's what I finally got started on this past summer and the most recent pic I have of it now.

What I started on...

and close to the present condition..

Still awaiting the 383, T56, new fuel lines, gas tank, brake lines, brakes, tires, blah, blah, etc, etc...

I've got the hotels booked, and the vacation time has been set aside. Now I just have to decide which car to take and try to convince the wife to go along after the minor disaster we had on last years Tour.

I think it might've scarred her for life.

Hopefully besides the turbos you are fixing that "small" gas leak over this winter as well (I was behind you in Bristol in my green '68 Camaro 'vert). ;-)

Hope to see you on the road again this year!

There have been some changes since these pics were taken, but for now, it's done. Is there something you don't like? Do you think I would have put the Intercooler in the bumper if I had any other choices?

yeah, not much room in the front of the earlier Chevelles. I kept Mark Stielows setup when I re-did my 64, fit it between the grille and radiator support with mods to the support structures, and a wider opening in the front bumper to feed fresh air.

To stay on topic, I've gone three years so far, but I've sold the Chevelle and it looks like I'll miss next year. For any on the fence, you really should go. It's the most fun car-wise that I've ever experienced.

Jody

Very nice Chevelle.

Originally I had the intercooler in front of the radiator (behind the grill), but had air flow problems which made the car run too hot on hot days. Living in South Florida is nice, except in the summer, you have days at 95-100 degrees. Now with the setup the way it is, the car runs at 180 degrees on days when it is 90 degrees. Since there is very little room to work with as it is, I really did not have much of a choice on the intercooler, especially if I wanted to get airflow across it.

Well I have 2 cars on the burner, my 77 Monza and my 84 Caprice 2dr.
I hope to use the current 402 bbc in my Caprice, and I am building a 283 for the Monza.
My Pro-Touring cars are going to run old school power plants with high tech tricks.
My Caprice is going to use a switch pitch turbo 400, the 402 and still its hopefully going to have 18in Vette wheels in black, the big Vette brakes in front with Kore3 brackets. And S10 disc in back. I intend to use simple cool ride front and rear.
Ill try to use some of my other parts, maybe try to get bucket seats and floor shifter in.
The Monza is going to run a 040 283, all forged rotating assembly, TCI th350 with Saturday Night Special converter, and 202/160 double humps as they are what I have. I hope it will get its air ride, and custom 4 link, probably wont get 17 in Vette wheels or brakes by summer as I Intend to up grade to Vette wheels and the smaller c5 brakes front and s10 disc in back. the future holds for twin TO4 Vtrim turbos if possible.
But lots of things need to go right as I am also looking into starting my own repair shop if possible with co-worker as soon as possible.
As for cooling I intend to use Evans cooling NPG+ to compliment the new aluminum radiators I will need.

If I am off work I will definitely catch the last few stops. I went in 03 to Arlington and it was just amazing. You could walk the parking lot for ever and by the time you came back there was all new cars where the old ones left.
