Musclecar John please adopt me. You have got 3 of chevys finest examples from the muscle car era. I have loved the 2nd gen camaros forever, they have really taken off in popularity. 10 years ago I had the chance to buy a matching # 70 1/2 Z28 for only 3K. In great shape no less. That is another topic though. I vote Johns 3 cars too.

'40 Willys

...there are SO many more (Daytona Coupe, 914/6, Monza Mirage, Ferrari GTO, chopped Mercs, '53 Skylark, '68 Shelby, '63 Split Window....) but these are probably the top three right now, today...before noon. The problem is that once some of these cars are modifed to suit my personal tastes, they would probably rise up the list. I'd love to drop an LS1 into the Monza Mirage or in the back of the 914, and that'd make them what I really want.

geez... just three? i'm a huge fan of the street-legal race-ready production cars...

muscle cars: 71 Hemi Cuda, 70 Charger, 69 AMX, 70 Olds W30 convertible, 89 Porsche 959, Cobra 427, 69 Corvette 427, Pantera, 70 Boss...

I don't know how to pick only three!

The last year for the 427 was '67, you could only get a 396 or 454 in a '69.. Now you could always drop a 427 in it.. :D

Wow. Only 3 is REALLY hard. If someone handed me the check book and said go buy any 3 street cars:

1. 67 Tahoe Turquoise Nickey Camaro RS/SS (or I would buy back my old 67 RS/SS 396 4 spd - Tahoe Turquoise of course)
2. 96 Dodge Viper GTS Coupe - Gotta be blue w/white stripes
3. Can't choose between a mid 80's Lambourghini Countach or a 1971 Cuda w/pistol grip 4 speed - don't even care what motor it has.

Others I love that were close runners up:

96 Impala SS - Green
93 Chevy 454 SS
GMC Typhoon
67 Vette
BMW 850 csi
93 Mustang Cobra

These are ones that I would want to own. There are COUNTLESS more cars that I just love and appreciate - Chevelles, GTOs, Cutlasses, Corvettes, K5 blazers, mostly American muscle and some German sports cars and sports sedans (the new 450ish hp Mercedes is just sick!!!!)

1969 was the last year for the 427 (COPO). The 454 (LS5 & LS6) came in 1970.

No 427 in Chevelles any year except the rare 69 COPO 427 Chevelles. COPOs are not actual SS cars so there is no such thing as a 427 SS Chevelle or Camaro.

My list:

1. 1970 SS454 Chevelle LS-6 or 1970 GS455 Stage 1 w/4spd
2. 1970 440 Road Runner
3. 1968 Mustang GT 428 CJ

Great thread! And tough to decide because it depends on how you want to look at it. Modern supercars like Ferraris & Lambos, or classic musclecars? Stock or modified? Who knows... up to each of our subjective whims I guess. Me, I'll just pick the production 3 cars I like best as they came from the factory because these 3 would also be the same three I'd like best if they were pro-toured too.

1) 1977 Trans Am
2) 1973 Trans Am
3) 1974 Trans Am

Okay, obviously I'm a T/A nut, so if restrict myself to just one T/A in the list it would fall out more like this!

1) 1977 Trans Am
2) 1996 Viper GTS
3) 1964 GTO

Honorable mention goes to 70 GTO Judge and 70 Cuda/Challenger (and all the rest of the gen2 T/As from 70-81) :)
