Joni Kiurunen's 1969 Corvette from  Helsinki Finland

This is Joni's latest project. A 1969 corvette with LS -7 454 and a Richmond 5 speed road race transmission. Suspension is a mix of Guldstrand, Vette brakes and home made components. The Body has "Daytona" fender flares", L88 hood and original Side pipe covers. Don't laugh. Those flares have been sold under a GM part number! All accessory brackets and adjusters and pulleys are custom made from billet aluminum. Water overflow and power steering fluid tanks are made from aluminum. All hoses and fuellines+fittings are Earls AN .
The Engine is a blueprinted LS-7 with 11.3:1 compression ratio, custom made Crane roller cam. Heads are stock rectangular port with competition valve job and titanium retainers. All fasteners are ARP. Some of them custom made by ARP. Intake is modified Victor jr. and carburetor is Speed Demon. Cam is driven by Pete Jackson gear drive .Oil pan is custom made 11Qt so there is no oiling problems. The Lifter valley is polished for fast oil return.

Power is transmitted thru steel flywheel and Mcleod 11" clucth to Richmond 5 speed gearbox. And then custom made drive shaft connects it to stock posi rear with 3,08 ratio. 3,5" balanced halfshafts take the final punishment to 335/35 ZR 17" rear wheels. Suspension is made for high speed driving. In front are 600lbs/inch coils and carrera shocks, Herb Adams sway bar with heimjoint end links and poly bushings everywhere. Brakes are still stock with better pads and Teflon braided hoses made by Earls. Rear spring is composite material and ultralight,control arms are "offset" models which gives more room for wheels, and reaction bars are aluminum with big heimjoint ends. All fastener is suspension and brakes are made by Caterpillar for best quality and strength. Wheels are custom made 17x9,5 with 275 up front and rear is 17x12, 5 with 335 rubber.
Interior is mostly stock. All gauges are Autometer ultra light. In Center console you find ultra light Oil pressure and temperature, water temp, voltage, fuel level. 5" tach and fuel pressure is mounted on the steering column with Minilight Shift light and oil pressure warning. All wiring is modified and changed using MAD products and top quality racing connectors and switches. Everything which need power ,like fans,lights,optional fuel pumps are behind bosch relays .All relays inc start solenoid is behind drivers seat with battery, taken away under dash. Roll cage is under construction with 5 point belts and racing seat, future plans are Alcon 13,5" brakes and EFI. Top speed is 170mph.Power output is 610 HP at 6500 and 580ftlbs torque at 5800rpm.

The car is not finished yet but, Joni's goal is a bigger engine and 200MPH!!!  Stay tuned Joni says. "BOWTIE RACING from Finland is coming fast, and some day we will be in Hot Rod power tour! Have fun and drive fast!"
