I think my 10 bolt was near it's horsepower limits 100 ponies ago. I'm thinking about upgrading with 12 bolt, 9" and... a quick change. Has anyone put a QC rear in a 1st gen F-body? The price is very reasonable, not to mention the ease of changing gear ratios. Brand new are around 2k, and used circle track ones are 1/3 to 1/2 that.

IMO, a QC would be a tight fit given the rear gear case protruding so far out back it would probably interfere with the tank. Also, a QC is no good for drag racing. It simply can't handle large shock loads. A 9" floater would be my suggestion.

I've had my Camaro at the drag strip 3 times since 1984... I might go back just to see what it runs on street tires, but otherwise I want to carve canyons and a few road course track days...

My engine machinist used a QC in his 1st gen BBC Camaro for many years, swapped a 9" when he was pushing 600 HP NA and using spray.

For you Houston guys "Misty Blue" was the Camaro.
