Ford 8" durability/power capabilities.

How much power can a 8 inch take realistically? Im thinking G body, big tires and a bunch of TQ. Mostly just a bunch of spirited street driving. Possible 4 speed.

Am I out of my mind?

Why use an 8", go with the 9" or the 8.8. I went with the 8.8, it is lighter and cheaper than the 9 and can be built to handle just about anything a street car can throw at it.

I have an 8" sitting here from a Pinto Wagon I used to have. Its narrower, I figured just throw some axles and a gear.

If you have all the parts and don't have to buy anything the rear is probably good for about 300hp with stock components. If you have to start putting money into it I would look to go another direction, why polish a turd.
