I am in the process of installing Baer's rear Touring system. My question is do I need to install new longer wheel studs? The drum wheel studs look a bit short.

Hey I have a 68 Camaro also and am looking at getting Discs all around how did your brakes come with a bracket?? or did you get one of the sets off of e-bay??? Most of the sets Ive seen say you should get longer wheel studs though

Thanks for the reply. I purchased a front and rear Baer setup from Detroit Speed and Engineering. It came with everything needed to bolt the system up. Well everything except for longer wheel studs.

I had a biotch of a time to find the proper wheel studs. I'll suggest Moroso drag studs. Their 2 7/8 inch long. I cut mine off(I have a plastic nut that threads over the actual wheel nut) so it was no biggy. You can also leave them long.

After looking for four days I found a set of Dorman wheel studs. The problem now is that when I install the caliper on the rotor it seems like the pads are rubbing on both sides. This can't be right. Can the pads be pushed back?

The Baer instructions say to shim the caliper bracket to housing to center the caliper.

Word to that. The 2 washers (per side) supplied should be enough to get everything lined up.

They are on correctly, they are opposite to accomodate the staggered shock locations. Mine are the same way. BTW, Your 'Bu looked great in the article....I really love that car.

They should both be the same on a Chevelle though correct? LOL! When I read the instructions it sounded way ass backwards but then again they sent me the wrong instructions with half the pieces missing(not litterally half). No way mine could go like that. Rear shocks are in the way.

Edit: How did you put your dust cap on? It looks like you beat on it with a hammer from the center? :getout: If not ignore me :hammer:

I didn't beat the dust cap on with a hammer. I did have a heck of a time getting the hub on that side though. I wanted to use a BFH to get it on.

how come is looks like the front rotor is on the wrong side?
seems like you would want the slant go with the the rotation.
can someone explain it to me?

thanks,
thomas...

Has to do with cooling. Some rotors run in the direction your talking about. I will dig up my instructions if someone doesn't chime in before hand. But like I said, its something about they've done testing and it shows that this style of rotor benefits when run in this rotation.
