The transmission inspection cover for my 700-R4 is (was) plastic, far too close to my long tube headers heated up and melted. I purchased Mr. Gasket part no 5135 as a quick cheap replacement, scuffed it down and painted it black because chromes not my thing (before test fitting because I'm s-m-r-t like that)... No chance of it fitting or being returnable at this point because I proceeded to hack and drill and weld on the cover to the point where I'd be ashamed to put it on my car. The rear mounting bolts are a completely different spacing and even if they did the torque converter would still hit the inspection cover. Any idea of any other metal covers out there on the market I could use? I haven't been able to find any for sale anywhere. Thanks in advance.

Mine is a aluminium cover off the pickup version:

I did clean it up and pop some holes in it..

I'll have to look into this more, I don't know how to identify which case 700R4 I have or how many cases there are. The 3 bolt holes on each side of the one you used doesn't make sense on mine. Aluminum would be great though if I could find one used.
