View Full Version : Axle causing rotor rub, Help!

I'm running the original 10 bolt in my 69 camaro. On hard turns to the left the right axle seems to float causing the rotor to contact the brake pads just enough to make a grinding sound. I have clearanced the fender to make sure its not a tire rub. No evidence of rubbing on the body at all. The sound is metallic and I discovered it doesn't rub until the car/brakes have warmed up a bit. I also discovered that I can lightly apply the break and the sound will stop. The sound is more present if turning hard under power.

The rear end has been rebuilt with new axles, bearings and a Detroit locker. I am running CPP disc on the rear. The sound was present prior to rebuilding the rear.

Is it common for the passenger side axle to float more then the other side? Would c clip eliminators hold the axle in position more and eliminate the rubbing? Is there another option I'm not thinking about?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
