Has anyone used this kit? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/STR-A1033/

Can it be used with drum and disc backing plates?

Specifically WS6 backing plates, I have rear disc from a 1979 TransAm.

I know a local guy used a regular C clip eliminator with them and the bearing block on that set doesn't look much different. Got a set just haven't used them yet.

Confirmed with Strange...No go for disc brakes. Too bad :(

The "regular" C clip eliminators also say no go, but they do. So they may still work. I'll look under the car tomorrow and see how much clearance with the TA discs. I really can't see why they wouldn't as the bearing housing is small enough to fit inside the rotor, and it should be tucked up in there pretty good.

The C clip eliminator housing fits easily within the rotor. Hard to tell fitment with the axles installed in the rear.

I don't know why Strange says that. I used their kit on my old 12 bolt with a Baer disk brake kit and had no issue. I don't know if it will work with your brakes.

Do you have the new street version installed? Is that what stranges concern is? Fitting inside the rotor?

I don't have it(C clip elim) installed just new in a box and an extra rotor. Not enough room to slid it past the set up rear in the car.

I have a C clip eliminated 12 bolt, that came with the car. I was talking to the guy at the Willwood boot at Goodguys in Columbus. He said the issue with that kit is running an interal parking brake. SO... You can run discs. If you are running an automatic, I would think "No Problem". I don't like the idea of not having a parking brake with a manual. IMO

Why havent you installed it? As for the parking brake...Makes sense. Good thing the TA disc parking mech is on on the caliper

Why have you not installed it? Looking to sell it?

Nope just for another of the projects in a long list:) Got it for the 78 when I upgrade it to 30 splines. Still debating using it or weld in ends. Don't have to cut the rear disc bracket for larger bearings if its on the outside part of the axle with this. I also can;t see how it is any less sturdy than just a regular bolt in axle either.

I think I got it from Strange directly.
