View Full Version : Anti-Roll Bar Drop Links

I am making some new drop links for my Speedway Engineering anti-roll bar for the 56 F100.

I'm using 1/2-20 threaded rod ends.

Does anyone know a source for aluminum hexagonal drop link stock? Speedway Engineering does sell some, but they are 2.5" long and I need something in the 5-6" range. I've also checked Coleman Racing and the Chassis Shop but no cigar.

Otherwise I can just make them out of round tubing.

Thanks,

Gustave

I don't think this will help you but McMaster Carr will have solid aluminum hex in stock, you would need to drill and tap the ends.

Yep, saw that, thanks. That is an option though I don't have a lathe so would have to get it machined.

Actually the hex link really only helps if you use left and right hand threaded rod ends. This allows very fine length adjustment. But usually I find a half rotation of one of the rod ends gets the length close enough. So round tubing with double right hand threaded rod ends would work.

I'd still prefer hex if it can be easilly achieved.

these are 5/8 but you could use rodends with 5/8 thread and 1/2 hole.

Yes, that could do it. Use those with the following rod ends from Baker Precision:

May be a little bulky, I'll check it out.

Thanks for the tips folks.

Say, that's a find! Why did I not see those? I always search McMaster before looking further. Thanks.

don't forget to get left handed jamb nuts, they are hard to find.

Good call. Order them all at once.

McMaster is a lifesaver, they always blow my mind with what they have in stock and how fast they ship.

http://www.mcmaster.com/#8419k64/=envadbAs an update I did end up getting my hex tube drop links from McMaster-Carr and they worked out great. The force angle on the anti-roll bar is better now and there is no binding like before. Here are a couple of pictures showing the before and after configuration.
