I am restoring my 79 Camaro and just had the front sub-frame sand blasted. All components were removed prior to blasting and there is no rot. I am curious about touching up the welds on the seams - other than appearance are there any advantages? Are there any other mods I can do to the frame that will improve the handling of the car? I will be using Detroit Speed sub-frame connectors and 4 point roll bar along with suspension components (mini-tub kit).

Last question is concerning paint - what should I use? I am a fan of Por15 but would prefer to not use it on the chassis just yet, as I will have some weld time for the sub-frame connectors. Should I just use a weld thru primer to protect the metal? Eastwood has a self etching weld thru primer that would work well and is available in quarts.

Any advise will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
George
