I need some help here.... I'm thinking of going to a rear coil over setup. How do I measure?

Do I preload the suspension?
Measure from eyelet to eyelet center? Or from top to bottom shock? TIA

With the car at ride height, measure center eye to center eye. You will then need to choose a shock that is at approximately 60% stroke at that point. Once the shock lenght is determined we can choose a spring lenght. Corner weight, shock length and shock mounting angle will be needed to calculate the required spring rate.

If you don't have the weight of your car, we did weigh a 79 Malibu. Those specs could be used to get a rough estimate.

Are you planning to make new mounts or use the existing shock mounts? Always try to use a 5" stroke shock or longer on the back of a car...the more travel, the better ride quality.

If using the stock upper mount.. you may need this T-bar.

Thanks Darren. I was planning on using a 'T-bar' for the upper mount, stock location and the lower mount is offset about 3" inward toward the center using relocation brackets.
