I am putting in a rebuilt 12-bolt rearend in my 70 camaro and I ran into a little problem. It seams the leaf spring perches are installed 1" too narrow. Before I have them cut off and new ones put on I want to verify what the width from perch to perch is supposed to be? Also the style of perch on this rearend is different than the standard 2nd gen. But I don't think that should matter

Sounds like it is out of a 1st Gen Camaro, is the perch shorter then your factory perch also?If nobody answer your question by the time I get off work, I will go home a measure my rearend under my car.

Not sure. I will check when I get home as well. I was told by the person I got this from that it was in a 2nd gen trans-am. So naturally I assumed there would be no problems. I am learning real fast to double check everything and not take anything for granted. It isn't a big deal really if its wrong, just wish i would of seen it before I had most of it bolted up underneath the car. New perches aren't too expensive, just was so close to setting my car back on the ground.

This is what I got.

Inside distance from perch to perch is
2nd Gen 39 3/4in
1st Gen 37 3/4in

Outside to outside
2nd Gen 50in
1st Gen 47 3/4in

Perch depth
2nd Gen 2in
1st Gen 1in

I think this is the info you are looking for to figure out what it is.
