Where do i start? Names Jeremy, 22 from Australia.

Yeah, so err i really didn't want to do this. Wanted to buy a car and change a few small things but as always i get carried away (my last "daily" had 484rwhp and was 2" off the ground..)

My end goal is to drive this thing like i stole it. Rape it to (hopefully not) death. Originally i just planned to tidy up a few things, fix a few interior water leaks and make a little more power etc etc. Never happens the way you plan..

Here's what i started with.

Oh yeah, forgot to add. Since the start of the thread on another forum i sold my 434... And bought this.

Gen4 L98 6.0L. It's an aussie motor, basically an LS3. Bottom ends can take around 650ish rwhp before they go uh oh. Heads standard with a set of springs will outflow what the bottom end can handle.

I also got an LS1 computer and reluctor wheel and cable operated throttle body. No dbw here.

Excuse the poopy photos.

Central locking kit and manual pedal setup turned up today. It's like christmas in my garage. Full of parts! T56 came last week..

I'm kinda scared to start ripping it apart, as everything is in pretty good condition.. Will make me sad not being able to walk out, start the beast and do skids and blow off some tuner kids. :(

Nice, I just got a 1993 Supra today... already modded crazily. A 520rwhp daily driver :drive1:

Anyway so what kind of time frame do you have on your build!!! and what kind of power output do you want

Anchor
09-03-2011, 01:03 AM
Well budget comes into time frame big time! Hopefully i'll have it full stripped and both subframes mocked up before christmas.. Completion by september 2012 for sure! Just in time for Powercruise Brisbane.

Power, stock pistons pull up the L98 at around 600rwhp. If i throw a set of pistons at it i might push the alloy block to around 700rwhp.. Then the blocks no good... Lol. So 600 for now should keep me entertained.

Nice buy with the supra, my new corona has 300rwhp with the standard 1jz vvti out of a jzx100 chaser. Certainly a bucket of fun.

09-03-2011, 02:01 AM
coool, I am tuned in this one.... your engine will be nuts!! are you going to run race fuel or just high octane?

Anchor
09-11-2011, 04:18 PM
Just what we call "BP98" in Australia. It's our highest octane pump fuel. Comparable with your 95ish RON fuel as far as i know.

The issue won't be detonation, but splitting the alloy block....

Sooo, plans change as ya all know...

I now have an AES LS complete engine being built by Fraser and the crew @ AES Race Engines. Need a 91mm turbo. Goal - 1000rwhp. Should be easy. Hopefully i make the figure before i melt the insides of the T56. Few guys in AUS are making that power with stock Tuet6000 T56's like mine. See how it goes. Might end up with a Magnum.

Consists of the following. Will be swapping out the edelbrock manifold for the holley hi-ram efi intake though. It's smoother, looks nicer. Everything is also being painted black. Like, everything. No chrome, no silver. Just black.

Bit of an update.. Nothing has really happened haha. Gotten slack, will get back into her next weekend. Have to clean all underneath :(

The TCI stuff didn't bolt in on the rear cause somebody has hacked up my front leaf mounts. So we have to remake those. Nearly done.. Then i can start bolting the subframes in.

And the motor is taking ages with little contact from Fraser. Knew it would happen, but yeah. Hand money over and the contact goes down the drain. That's business though..

Yeah, it's been a few months and so far i think they've got a pile of parts and a machined block...

Next step is taking it down to the fabricator for a new tunnel, connect the front clip to the tranny crossmember so it's one whole new chassis, plate behind the rear seat, but of a minitub/clearance, new boot floor with atl fuel cell dropped through the boot and a cage for it hanging down below the car.

Maybe a back half cage too, with removable harness bar.

Then get it back home, remove everything, sandblast and 2-pac with a good epoxy/rustproof base. And put it back together.

Going to buy a dakota digital dash as well. By the time i get a speed sensor box, new gauges for temp/oil pressure/everything. It's up around $1000. New dash is $895 with the optional temp outputs for engine oil temp, gearbox oil temp and diff oil temp.
See the diff cover, there's two grub screws right, they are usually for bracing the caps. But i don't need them as the big plate in between does a good job so i'm turning that into a diff cooler/hold more oil and running a cooler up under the boot next to the fuel cell. Will probably run a cooler for the T56 up there as well.

The hard part is, our laws here are so tough. It's stupid. We have to do so much work to make our cars street legal and insurable.

Anchor
10-05-2012, 06:58 PM
Gettin keen. A clutch pedal and 6 forward gears is the only way to build a pro touring monster.

Definately not puttin that dash or wiring mess back in. AAW classic update kit, LS1 conversion harness and dakota digital dash is the new plan.

This thing just keeps costing me money. Hah. Now using a belt drive fuel pump.
Anything electric with enough oomph to give me 1200rwhp worth of fuel is gunna get mighty hot and cook the fuel within 45 mins of constant driving. Also have issues with voltage drop etc etc. I wanna drive 8 hours to Brisbane and be reliable.
Soo aeromotive belt drive setup it is. Going to be fun trying to fit it in with AC/PS & Alt.

Also, motor should be done in two weeks...
Missing brackets turned up for the diff, they will be on next week then it's rolling and down to the fab shop. Art Morrison half cage has been added to the list as well.

Dakota Dash turned up, it's pretty damn nice!
Can't really do much more till i get a wiring harness, some brake parts or an engine...

As soon as the diff rebuild kit gets here, the car will be off to the fabricator for some work.

Man i'm so broke haha. Just did a big order of stuff to box in with the engine.
Surefit Vintage AC
DSE 7sp Hidden wiper motor and accessories
AAW Classic Update complete vehicle harness
PSI Conversions LS1/T56 harness and mafless tuned ECU
Mcleod twin disc 1500hp clutch/flywheel & Tick master cylinder
Art Morrison 4pt chromoly cage with rear seat bars & harness bar

Diff will be back to me tomorrow assembled and ready to throw underneath. Should have some rolling photos on the weekend

Booked in to fatz fabrication on 21st Jan.

Also found out i need dust seals in my wilwood brakes, so a good friend/vendor who's helped me out this whole build is sending me over some dynapro 4pot calipers & pads which come with dust seals.

Running manual brakes too. Looked at dual VH44's. No room. Looked at hydraboost, it was around $500 for the setup to run off my powersteering. But i wasn't planning on having belt driven ps pump. Looking at an electric MR2 unit. Also inquired about an electric master cylinder from ABS power brake but it was $1000. Engineer said with my calipers etc, manual brakes will be fine if i run a 13/16 or 7/8 bore master cylinder.

Turbonetics have replied to my/TCI's email, Midframe 66mm satin finish - Rediculously good prices. Not bad i think... Just gotta run some t-netics stickers somewhere i guess. :D

Can get the 72mm inducer for the same price in the Midframe... I should go that right? More room to move, less boost required, keep dem heads down..

Intake worked over, engine nearly done. Waiting on the roadrace oil pan from milidon. First one was bent.

Thanks guys. Pretty sure i'm set on twin 72's instead of the 66's. I'd rather have room to move. And being ball bearing on a 398 i don't think i'm going to have too much issues spooling them. Better to make the power on lower boost..

Fuel cell turned up. 20gal Aeroflow. 2x 8an feeds. 2x returns/rollover. 0-90 sender unit.

Did some cutting in the trunk too for the fuel cell.
Was going to weld some 50x50x3 alloy angle to the cell so it can just drop in and run a brace around the outside of my cut. But i'd rather have the cell sit in a cage of sorts... I'd feel safer about going over rough roads and ****.

I think we're going to attack it this weekend Jordan. It's pretty simple. Just using some 50x50x3mm steel angle. Was going to use alloy, but i'm betting at some point i'm going to bottom out.. Tank won't be sitting straight on the steel anyway. Will have some thin rubber lining the inside of the angle.

Started on the floor with a paint scraper and sharpened screwdriver. Have a portable vacuum sandblaster to finish off. Haven't decided what i'm coating it with yet. Didn't go wire wheel cause I didn't want bare metal yet. Would rather find all the holes and fix everything. Do the sandblasting and painting in one weekend.

Also added some crush tubes for the rear coilover crossmember as well as making the footprint the crossmember has on the chassis a little bigger.

These braces effectively tie the rear clip to the front. And cover up the 50 years of careless jacking that has ruined the chassis. Will be a tab welded to the rear clip that comes over the new braces. Will be butt welded as well.
