1984 Monte Carlo SS w/ 2002 LS1 conversion, full SC&C suspension, F&R Baer brakes, 18" Rushforth wheels. All modifications are bolt-on- the car was not cut-up to accommodate the drivetrain, suspension, or wheels.
Car has excellent street manners. Smooth, modern ride. ~2000RPM @ 70MPH, 21-25mpg highway, drone-free pin-drop quiet interior, ice cold A/C.
I completed the car in March this year. I have receipts for all aftermarket hardware. Since then, I've accumulated over 1000 miles. Mostly due to several commuting days- 64 miles round trip. Sunny, dry days only.
Factory equipment: A/C, PW, PB, PS, buckets w/ console, tilt, intermittent wipers, rear defrost.
Engine swap: 2002 LS1 from T/A. Bought from Cleveland Pick-A-Part. Donor vehicle had 52k miles. AFAIK, internally stock. External mods are BRP mid-length conversion headers, RetroLSX oil pan, Spohn conversion frame mount, Kwik A/C relocation w/ Sanden compressor, CAI, LS1 electric fans, aluminum radiator, BGN A/C condenser. ECM professionally calibrated and roller dyno tuned. Tune was driver/street slanted- not maximized for race performance. HP & TQ figures were in-line with stock figures.
Exhaust: hand fabricated 2.5" 304SS mandrel bent incl. X-pipe. Dynomax VT mufflers. No drone! Can hear transmission whine while driving under a light load. Mufflers have internal butterfly valves that open as engine load is increased.
Fuel system: BGN tank, BGN in-tank pump & sender. 'vette fuel filter/regulator, -6AN line from tank to engine.
Transmission: AFAIK, internally stock 4L60E from engine donor vehicle. Iceman x-member, Shiftworks conversion tailhousing, custom length shift cable. Modified T/A trans shifter to fit stock Monte SS shifter handle and console.
All suspension components bought from SC&C.
Front- SPC adjustable upper arms, SPC tubular lower arms, Howe 'tall' ball joints, SPC coils, Alston Vari-Shocks, SPC Jounce bumpers. SC&C front frame brace. Borgeson collapsable steering shaft.
Rear- Currietrac lower arms, Currietrac adjustable upper arms, Alston Vari-Shocks, Spohn Pro-touring anti-sway bar
Brakes- Baer 'Track' system on front and rear. Front on OEM spec spindle. Rotors are drilled & slotted. 12" F&R or 13"F and 12"R. Rear has parking brakes. Baer adjustable bias valve located beneath stock brake booster.
Wheels: Front- 2pc forged aluminum 18x7 Rushforth Fuel w/ 235/40-18 Hankook Ventus V4. Rear- 18x8 w/ 245/40-18 Hankook Ventus V4.
Electrical: Chassis uses stock fuse block and wiring. Engine uses Current Performance fuse block. Conversion wiring was done professionally by Downriver Motorsports Wiring. All factory MCSS gauges work- speedo, tach, fuel, oil, water, volt, clock. Water temp sender is machined NAPA 84 MCSS sender to fit LS1 passenger head port. Optima red-top battery. Speedo is accurate within 1 MPH, tach is accurate within 8-9%. OBD2 diagnostic port is functional and located in stock MCSS port location.
Interior: Bone stock appearing. Only mod is ABS-backed headliner. Non-smoker car. No rips, tears, burns. Carpet slightly faded near driver sill plate.
Exterior: 64k currently on odometer. I know the cars history back to 1994. From 1994 to March 2011 the car accumulated less than 10k miles. It was my bro-in-laws garage ornament. Professionally detailed (interior & exterior) in Feb 2011. 35% tint all windows except windshield. OEM stripes were deleted, but I have the entire set in GM packages. Frame is not notched, wheel openings are not rolled.
