Power Steering Delete Options

I just bought a motor that has this serpentine setup http://paceperformance.com/i-6255268-12497698-sbc-serp-kit-with-a-c.html

It has a power steering pump installed. I do not have power steering in my car now. I am not planning on installing power steering at this time but i may at a later date.

What are my options to reuse this serp kit but delete the power steering?

Can i loop together the in/out on the steering pump?

Does anyone make an idler pulley for this?

can we get a pic of the belt arrangement? it may be that with a shorter belt you can simply remove the ps pump from the system or add an idler in a convenient location.

I dont think i can just remove the pump, do to the belt routing.

Does anyone make an idler to replace the pump?

I think that I can remove all the components that build pressure from the inside of the pump. This will essentially let the pump "free wheel".

Let me know if this would not last overtime.

Removed the metal plate to the pump

I will remove this plug to allow fluid to just flow through, trying to eliminate any pressure build up

The spring and bolt will be left out when re assembled, allowing fluid to flow freely.

Here are my questions????

Do these to balls need to be drilled out? They set close to where the pressure line hooks up at.

How would i cap off the reservoir inlet? Could a rubber hose be used with a clamp? Or should i remove the tube and weld up the hole?

I would cap off the pressure outlet.


Should I run the reservoir with or without fluid?

Should the O-ring for the reservoir/pump be replaced? It doesn't show any damage, but I'm not sure if its reusable.
